Anyone else doing a PhD and raising a toddler? đź«Ł

Im doing at PhD in physiology and I just feel like there’s never enough time to get all the reading done that I need. I know people without children even feel this way so I’m feeling extra behind all the time. My PI is very nice, patient and understanding, so I’m lucky in that regard.

I am working on my doctorate while raising a 19 month old and working full-time. It's a lot Amber. I know how you feel. There is never enough time in the day and even finding time to settle and quiet my mind to do work can be challenging.

No but major props to you. When I did my masters I was working full time, planning a wedding, and raising a very intense puppy (a Belgian malinois specifically) and I felt like I was drowning a lot of the time. I don't think I ever want to feel that kind of stress again. Sending you the absolute best wishes and hoping you are able to find some calm in this hectic season of life.

@Nadine Luckily the PhD is my paid job for now, so I don’t have to do two separate things. The reading, studying, plus all the research and writing takes so so much time that I feel like I don’t have. I’m glad you can relate! 🩷

@Stephanie Thank you for those kind words! We all have busy battles. That’s for sure!

I couldn’t imagine having gone through my PhD while raising a kiddo!! That was one of the most stressful, depressive, challenging times of my life. And I always felt underwater and literally the only person I had to worry about was myself. I do know someone who had THREE children over the course of her PhD and did an amazing job. I wish you all the best on your journey; you are strong and capable!! ❤️ an understanding PI is key and you are so lucky to have that!! ❤️

I’m working on my masters with a new born. I constantly am just reading enough to answer the discussions.

@Nissa I did my masters with a newborn too! You can do it!

@Kaitlin I really appreciate the kind words đź©·
