What’s the hardest age under 12yrs old?

I have three kids. 10, 8, 4. All different temperaments. Older two seem to struggle with ADD (I have it and recognize so many things in them but haven’t had time to setup appointments for them). My oldest is a girl, the younger two boys. I always thought teen years would be the hardest because, well, I was at my worst during that time. Stubborn, thinking I know better, doing what I want, arguing, sneaking, etc. 🤷‍♀️ but 8yrs old seems to be proving me wrong. My older daughter and I bumped heads the most at 8/9, and now it’s my son. This morning was haaaard.

In our area 3rd grade is a critical year so maybe it’s the added academic stress, their potential ADD, and my dwindling patience? I don’t know. But damn.

what’s been the hardest age for you before they reach their teen years?

Parents of older kids… how did yall survive!?

8 is rough. Especially with boys. But 10 was even harder for me. That's when he really got super emotional and his feelings just started to explode.

My daughter is still very young, but I am a teacher and I know that the odd school years are the hardest academically and socially for kids! Lots of pressure on them, plus they at 8-9, they are moving from the “always wanting to please” of little kid age to the “I am able to make my own choices” of pre-teen years. It’s a tough age mama. The fact that you care shows you are doing a great job!! Sending you lots of love!
