Hi all! I’m 9 weeks tomorrow and wondered if I should be taking anything other than folic acid? I’m taking 1 a day and feel like maybe I should be doing more? Thanks! X

I take pregnacare which has a bunch but I think the main other one is vitamin d

Folic acid and vitamin D

that’s great thanks I’ll have a look

Folic acid, vitamin D , iron and calcium

Magnesium if you are having a lot of cramping

@Maya I'd just like to say off the back of this that when I was pregnant with my daughter I only took pregnacare original and she is super quick and picks things up really easily. So I don't think it's as black and white as pregnacare original isn't good enough...

agree. Multivitamins make me really sick. I took only folic acid & vitamin D and my blood tests were always fine, as is my toddler. Not saying pregnacare plus isn’t good or even the best, just agree that it’s not that black and white ☺️

I’m only relaying what my gynecologist told me 😊 in most cases even when pregnant women don’t take the recommended supplements, babies turn out to be perfectly healthy. For example, if mama wasn’t taking folic acid at all, the chances that the baby would have spina bifida are still low. I believe this is a similar case which is why there is no reason to panic, but I personally would want to feel like I’m doing everything that I can for my baby and that includes taking DHA as per the doctor’s advice. I hope that clarifies it 🫶🏼

and here’s a link explaining why DHA is important during pregnancy 😊 https://www.aptaclub.co.uk/pregnancy/diet-and-nutrition/key-vitamins-and-nutrients/understanding-lcps.html
As I wrote in my previous comment, I’m not at all saying that you can’t have a healthy baby without it, just that it supports your baby’s development 🫶🏼

A prenatal with folate. Calcium & magnesium. Omega 3.

I’m taking prenatal with folate, DHA supplement, CoQ10 (this helps with the baby’s growth) and D3 xx

I’ve only ever been told to stop coQ10 when pregnant, also told this from a gynaecologist.
Where did you get this information from ???
