Anyone else had a glass of wine while pregnant ?
I haven’t drank or smoked through out my pregnancy I’m almost 6 months
Me and my bf are going out and I wanted to have a glass of wine before we left out I’ve heard it isn’t bad

I'm no doctor but what about alcohol free wine? Or grape juice / shloer in a nice wine glass?☺️

Absolutely not, just my opinion. You’ve already gone 6 months, you can do another 3. Plus one glass isn’t going to get you drunk anyway so you may as well not have it. Maybe see if they have mocktails, I had some lovely drinks I never would’ve tried if i hadn’t been pregnant!

I've just had a low alcohol beer (small amount) ive tried to have sips of wine here and there but never managed a full glass as it doesn't feel right 🤷🏻♀️
You could have a white wine and lemonade or something that reduces the alcohol content a lot. But I know people who have drank a glass of wine during second and third trimester and it's apparently fine ! Just do your research and do what feels right x x

I had red wine while pregnant that’s the only one I’ve heard of being ok to have I also had anemia due to pregnancy that started to cause tachycardia so my doctor said it would help me with it my baby is 100% ok and healthy came right on time

It’s my understanding that’s an old “myth” and no amount of alcohol is okay for the baby. But Google it or call/text your midwife

They don't actually know how much or when it can cause FAS so as of now there's no safe or recommended amount of alcohol during pregnancy. There's been babies born with it where only one drink was consumed the entire pregnancy and ones born without it where the mother drank the entire time.

No amount of alcohol has been deemed safe for pregnancy- I personally wouldn’t. I like to order mocktails to feel like I’m part of the party lol

The reason some OBs/midwives recommend it is because its an outdated belief that low alcohol drinks have a lower chance of harming your baby....but that chance is still there! I would not depend on survivor bias for something as important as your baby! The complications are devastating for a baby, I've seen it many times. Not worth it.

Definitely not worth doing that. Why would you.
If there were any complications, surely anyone would rightfully want to be clear in their mind that they’d been doing everything right for it.

I've had a glass of champagne on two separate occasions, I could only drink half both times as it gave me savage indigestion 🤦🏼♀️

Yes, I had the odd small glass
That was in both my pregnancies- very open with my midwife’s and they had no concerns throughout

Alcohol of any kind is not recommended. There is even evidence now that you shouldn't even be drinking when trying to conceive. Would strongly recommend not drinking until your pregnancy is finished.
Think about it, there is a reason that the age of drinking in the UK is 18, why do you think it's okay for a developing fetus to be able to consume it?

I read online (might have been the NHS website) that no amount of alcohol is safe for the baby so I personally wouldn’t risk it. There’s always so many non-alcoholic drinks you can have so it’s better to be safe x

Yes!!! I’ve had a glass of wine occasionally!!

Sigh. Check out Emily Osters assessment of alcohol consumption for actual data on this (her book Expecting Better is quite good). Literally one drink is not going to be a problem. Binge drinking would be a serious problem.

Many official medical guidelines will recommend complete abstinence (e.g ACOG: https://www.acog.org/womens-health/infographics/alcohol-and-pregnancy), but digging more into the data behind these recommendations, it appears to be the results of there being no evidentiary benefits of alcohol while simultaneously providing simple and effective guidance. There is no consistent or reliable (e.g. double-blind statistically significant studies) evidence that light drinking during pregnancy negatively impacts your baby (“light” = up to 1 drink per week in the first trimester, and up to 1 drink per day in the second and third). Heavier drinking (4-5 drinks per sitting) negatively impacts baby on a number of fronts and should be avoided.

You need to speak with your doctor. We are not health professionals here. Our opinions don’t matter. Don’t do something that you regret later.

Have a mocktail

👏

i didn’t realize how many people drink alcohol while pregnant 😳i wouldn’t recommend it but that’s just my opinion

right?! My mind is blown! 🤯

i think you shouldnt, wait until your baby born
