Urine sample

I am almost 27 weeks and for some reason I just realized today that I don't give a urine sample at each appointment. This is my third but my other two kids had different OBs (we moved and had to find others) and I always did urine samples before each appointment with the other two but I only did one with this new office at my first visit. Just wondering if anyone else also does NOT have to give a urine sample at each appointment.

I don't! I gave one at the beginning and then again around 15-18 weeks when I was worried about having a uti because of pressure.
It seems like, at least for me, unless I have any concerns they don't test 🤷🏼‍♀️😊
(I'm 27wk+3 now)

I’m 25 weeks and have only given 1

I’ve only given one urine sample at the very beginning of my pregnancy.

I do it at every appointment. I’m not sure if that’s standard protocol or because I have a few risk factors for pre-eclampsia

I asked my ob about this at my second appointment and apparently ACOG said it wasnt really that informative so they didn’t have to do that anymore but my ob said if you want to do a sample everytime all you have to do is request it.

Thanks for the reassurance!!

I’ve been asked for a urine sample at each appt so far, I’m 24 weeks.

I only did 2 at the very beginning, one at my PCP right after they confirmed my pregnancy and a second at my women’s clinic who I’m going through for hospital as backup (I’m planning a home birth)

I've never done this for either of my pregnancies. I'm seeing a midwife only practice, so maybe that's why. Do you know what they test for in your urine?

I've only done it once and I had preeclampsia with my other delivery. 🤷🏻‍♀️

the only two things I know are protein and whatever detects a UTI. That's not to say that's an extensive list I only know because that's how a UTI i had was diagnosed (I didn't have any other symptoms) and when my blood pressure was high they reassured me there was no protein on my urine

I think each hospital does it differently. When I was pregnant in Texas I had a urine sample and an ultrasound every appointment. Now that I live in Florida I had to ask for a urine test. Also, I had less ultrasounds too there are times that I just go to the Dr. office and he puts the heart monitor and then sends me home.
