What do I need for 3mo baby swimming outing?

Hey guys! I’m taking my 3 month old swimming this weekend and have nothing ready! Experienced mamas, what would you recommend buying? I’ve seen loads of different types of floaties, swimsuits and nappies and I’m a bit overwhelmed knowing what to buy. I 100% want something that keeps him afloat whatever that may be. Would love a list of things I need to purchase 🥹🫶 Also, any tips for our swimming session? Will he likely cry? How is best to get him out again etc etc 😂 thanks!

Swim nappy, swim suit, towel I use the hooded beach towels with my son, towel on his pram as it comes poolside for when we get out. Normal bag of nappies wipes milk ect. We use a long sleeve swim suit as the pool isn’t warm warm, my son cried 15m into first lesson as he was hungry and tired. Zip up sleep suit helps got after swimming easy to remove and put on and he loved his milk after swimming. Babies are not allowed floats as they’re too young. We do lessons, they use a pool toy that floats and it helps his focus

I find the swim nappy and swim suit very hard to get on, so I tend to put it on him before we leave and put a normal nappy over the top for the journey (I also place a puppy pad on his car seat just in case too). This makes getting in the pool a lot less stressful as I was struggling the first time I went trying to get him in it!

My baby got tired quickly during the first session (napping timings were not right) however the second was successful!

I take my 4 month little girl swimming once a week and I put her in her swimsuit before leaving and in a normal nappy. Swim nappies are not waterproof!! In our bag we have x2 towels, vest (as her swimsuit is on instead), clean nappy, wipes, spare swim nappy incase she poos before we go in and a towel for myself. After we get out, I get dressed first and wrap her up in the two towels so she stays warm. I also quickly learnt that I don’t try and get the swimsuit back over her head and pull it down (it’s zipped at the front so very roomy).

See if you can find out the temperature of the pool you’re taking them to!
If it’s heated to a warm temperature, just a swimsuit is fine. I definitely recommend the Splash About with built in a swim nappy! Plus put a disposable swim nappy underneath.
Of course a towel & fresh set of clothes, changing rooms tend to be wet 😂
I take my 4 month old to lessons & she doesn’t use any floaties or baby seat. Just holding them is fine and helps them learn better :)

If the pool isn’t heated enough, you can buy a baby wet suit to keep them warm. I think most indoor pools should be warm enough though, the one I take my daughter to is 34 Degrees Celsius

I’d definitely recommend the happy nappy which goes over a disposable swim nappy. If the pool is below about 30-32c you might want to consider a wetsuit. Splash About, who make the happy nappy, do a good wrap style one. Nanny Louenna recommended a neoprene changing mat as it holds the heat and keeps baby warm apparently, so I’ve bought a Splash About one of these for my baby’s first swim. Definitely a hooded towel too!

With my daughter I used happy nappy & had a splash about ‘warm in one’ , it was unreal! Kept her nice and warm

Haven’t taken November baby swimming yet due to wanting to wait for vaccines with him being unwell at 9 weeks. But will be getting him the same
