A bouncer. My nan got our son a bouncy chair and oh my god it was well loved and used he'd still use it now if he wasn't so big he'd break it 🤣

Useful? Wipes. Baby carrier is also a good one.

For baby or parent? For baby- onesies with the zips!!! For parent- a nice dressing gown or takeaway vouchers, saved my life in the early days.

our best parent gift was a deliveroo voucher from my dad and step mum meant in that first week my partner didn't have to stress about dinner and we could just order food in to see us through

Baby carrier for sure.

Also my friend who had had a baby a year before me sent me so many postpartum things like stool softener and it was a god send as I had no idea what I needed. Moms are usually forgotten in all the fun so getting something just for me was so nice

This Amazon changing mat that has compartments for wipes, diapers, cremes etc. Means I never forget anything! https://amzn.eu/d/2M6OU7d

Wipes for sure

Comforters I wouldn’t bother, I ended up with 12 and they only usually stick to 1

A portable changing mat for sure or you can get a hand and foot print none ink picture frame set from Amazon one of the best and most thoughtful gifts I got

we did this too. And then an AMAZING pal filled our freezer with meals as a present and honestly I could’ve cried at how much it took the pressure off

One of the things I noticed was at baby groups some parents had things decorating their pram to keep them amused so basically car seat/pram toys. Something for swimming maybe as it’s not something you would instantly buy. Some of the things like bouncer and changing bag are quite personal so I might ask first. Someone to to a clay foot (would not recommend diy as we returned ours) but the hand/foot print might be a good idea.
The toy I loved was the woozit and the Eric Carlisle butterfly although annoyingly second time round my daughter wasn’t bothered.

Obviously I would be grateful and thankful for anything, but I really don’t NEED hundreds of baby grows, nappies and blankets. They grow out of clothes so quickly I would feel awful if someone’s outfit only got one wear out of it and obviously you can only use one blanket at a time so some most likely won’t ever get used.

I agree with above. Honestly the most helpful gift I can think of is a takeaway voucher. Or a small gift for my other children (like a bag of sweets each or bubbles, not talking expensive presents) so that they feel included. I remember my partners mum bought my eldest child a small toy car when my youngest was born and I was so grateful to her that she remembered him too x

A car emergency kit… a tote that stays in a persons trunk and is hopefully not needed ever but there for when they do. One thing of wipes, hand full of diapers in sizes that go up to about the age of a typical one year old, hand pump (if pumping) a small container for formula if there is an emergency or it is main way of feeding, blanket, pacifier, an outfit for each size till typical one year old. Wipes made for pump parts, a bottle, labels that are dissolvable in water such as canning labels, an extra pen and anything else that could be needed if it got dirty, broken or forgotten when out and about. May not be favorite items but very helpful when in a pinch. Wash and sanitize everything and cover/seal it for if it is ever needed. The gift that you hope they never use but is there for use if they need it. Very useful and not typically gifted. Or money to go towards the childs future such as funds towards education later in life. Hope you find something that fits your needs

If I was to gift someone a must have it would be one of a few things! Tommee tippee black out blind - super easy to put up and great for if you go on holiday etc. small lamp for night feeds we have a touch one with different brightness setting and is chargeable and portable. Love to dream swaddle is great. Haaka if mum is planning on BF for any let down - so much easier than pumping! Nappies and wipes just saves them being brought for a few weeks/months. A sling/carrier no baby wants to be put down so you can get anything done so these are a godsend! Most of the best gifts are the ones that make life easier for parents as opposed to specifically for baby
