Is/has anyone else’s baby been put on this formula? Any tips for actually getting them to drink it 😭😣

You can mix it with old formula so 1 scoop nutramigen to however many scoops old formula then slowly increase nutramigen
Alcohol free vanilla drops
I've heard nesquick works too
But after a few days baby will get used to the taste, its also that its thinner baby needs to get used to this too

thank you for your reply. I added 1 scoop of C&G but he then projectile vomited all over me 😫. He just will not drink it but is crying as he’s hungry. Where did you find vanilla drops? Xx

Do more c&g and less nutramigen then increase nutramigen over a few feeds
The cmpa milks are so much thinner so be prepared for the reflux uou may then need something to help reduce the reflux
I think most of them are alcohol free, I didnt need to use it myself and wasn't on nutramigen very long we then had to change to neocate because her eyes were swelling again so drs didn't want to risk leaving her for the 6 weeks

It took my EBF daughter around 1 week of perseverance to drink it. Breastmilk is so sweet compared to how bitter this tastes. It was easier at bedtime/naptime when she was really sleepy and wanted milk to fall asleep.
Like the other suggestions you can start with 75% old milk 25% nutramigen and then keep increasing it until it’s 100% nutramigen. Also vanilla extract is an option but this didn’t make a difference for my baby

Took a while maybe a week - starting with 1 scoop.. because it’s so thin it made my LO projective vomit. Had to add carobel xx

how old was your daughter when she got moved on to it? My little one has reflux but it has taken till he’s 5 months old to be given this formula as I got continuously palmed off with other stuff that didn’t work. Worried that due to how long he’s been on other formula it’s going to be a nightmare ☹️ he’s been throwing up all day every day since I moved him on to formula at about 5 weeks old xx

My kids were put on Similac Alimentum which is equivalent to Nutramigen I would try that if possible

Try some light corn syrup. It’s good for their digestive system and is sweet. Other than that, it’s completely normal for babies to no t like it/want it or for their stomachs to negatively react at first. That’s with switching to any formula! Best of luck though!

she was around 5 months too!! My milk supply wasn’t enough for me to pump and leave milk for her if I wanted to go out so I really wanted to get her onto formula and it wasn’t the easiest but we got there in the end. You just have to keep trying especially when baby is hungry. If your baby is still having night feeds maybe try it for a night feed when he is sleepy, or even a dream feed and see if he’s drowsy enough to take it? Message me if you need any advice as I was in the same boat with reflux and CMPA and ended up going private as GP was useless x

thank you so much I will message you xxx

so I’m guessing your baby is breast milk sensitive; my baby girl is the same way; she would projectile vomit all of the breast milk she would drink and would end up losing weight bc of it and constantly crying bc she was still hungry; I ended up putting my baby on Similac Whey Protein formula and Similac Soy Isomil; it’s the only 2 formulas she’s been able to hold down and has little to no spit up afterwards after burping; it helped me so much bc I worried so much at the fact she wasn’t making any 💩 diapers and wasn’t peeing as much as she should have been; I even tried doing half breast milk half formula but it still would all come up; so switching to a soy formula or a plant based formula was the best decision i could have made for my little one; once we put her on the Similac formulas, she started gaining weight, her bilirubin levels went down and stabilized, and she started using the bathroom like normal; and would get longer sleep periods

It was a rough few days at first and then my baby just got used to the taste. I hope it’s an easy transition for you and baby ❤️

it’s really strange because I exclusively pumped for the first 5 weeks and he was rarely sick. As soon as we moved on to formula gradually just began being more and more sick x

I think I’ve finally got him to like/tolerate the taste but he is still throwing up a ridiculous amount I’m just hoping after a few weeks he will eventually get the dairy out of his system and be okay because I can’t handle 5/6 outfit changes every single day anymore 🤣 xx

It may just take trying different formulas; I went through 6 different kinds of formula before I found one she liked and would tolerate; it’s like a trial and error kind of situation

oh definitely trial and error, we have tried most of them but are now on prescribed formula by his doctor so not sure how many other options are available to us but if this isn’t the one for us hopefully there’s another we can be prescribed xx

that happened to my boy too, it took a while for it (in my sons instance it was soy before nutramigen)all to leave his system
