Did you go back to your original clothes size?

Hey gals, im sorting my wardrobe and giving away all my crop tops etc and I was just thinking about what size I’ll be after I give birth.
I was a size 6 top before I got pregnant, and between a 6-8 and bottoms.
A lot of my clothes are VERY small, and I’m looking at them like how the **** will I ever wear that again 🤣
It doesn’t bother me at all if I can’t, and if I go up a size or 2 but I’m just wondering if the majority do size up or if people go back to their original size?

Is there any point me keeping all these tiny clothes? Xx

Some do, and some don’t.

I just got back to my normal size after I birthed my second child!
I was so happy when my scrubs finally fitted me! My son is 15 months old! I had so many of those scrubs! I couldn’t afford get rid of them!

Also depends on if you have C-section (harder to lose weight unfortunately) or if you want to work out after to help. Everyone is different so not everyone walks out of the hospital looking like they never had a baby.

Avatar

It really depends. I was always an 8-10 pre pregnant. A year postpartum I am definitely a 10!

Avatar

I was a 10-12 before my son, after a 12-14. Pregnant again so don't really care but I'd like to be a comfortable 12 after this one. I didn't really put a lot of effort into losing all the weight as I hoped I'd get pregnant again

I was back in my pre-pregnancy clothes after a couple of months, but it’s completely different for everyone.
I don’t know if it makes a difference, but I didn’t gain any weight anywhere other than my bump during pregnancy.

Avatar

Don’t get rid of things!! I did that thinking “I’ll never fit into that again” then lost 5 stone postpartum and had absolutely no clothes that fit😂

Avatar

It’s different for everyone. I was able to go back to my pre pregnancy weight, but went up a size in pants.

Avatar

No, I've gone up multiple sizes since having my youngest 😩

Avatar

Really depends for everyone. I'm 14 months pp and genuinely wish I hadn't thrown out clothes from about 5 years ago, because I had gained weight and was at my biggest before even getting pregnant, after baby I've lost all that weight and more so I'm smaller than right before pregnancy

Avatar

I was a 10/12 on top and 14 uk sizes on bottom before having my daughter. Now I’m about a 16 on top (breastfeeding boobs😂) and bottoms I’m more like a 16 depending on the shop. I didn’t gain additional weight when pregnant, my shape is just different. It happens. But my sister has had 2 children and is the same size and looks exactly the same ! Everyone is different, I’d suggest just keep it and you can try it on afterwards xx

I lost a lot of weight after I had my daughter but I ended up having a c-section so my stomach not firmed back enough for me to fit in to some old clothes either though I am smaller now then I was before I got pregnant. I still have a bad stomach pouch.

Avatar

For me, nearly everything went right back to pre baby instantly.

Avatar

I used to be an 8-10 on top and a 10 on the bottom… my youngest is 18 months this and I’m now a 12/14! 🙃

Avatar

I went straight back to pre pregnancy clothes but some ppl don’t

Avatar

I am over a stone lighter since pre-pregnancy and I think it’s due to breastfeeding. I was in size 10-12 clothes before (UK) and now a lot of my clothes are loose.

Avatar

Everyone’s different!
I was back in my pre baby clothes virtually instantly, but other than a pair of maternity leggings I didn’t actually buy anything new throughout the pregnancy. Just wore stuff that had more stretch and couldn’t wear jeans. But after birth, bar a bit of loose skin on the tummy I managed to remain in my usual clothes still 🙂 I think it depends how big bump is also as mine wasn’t huge. Just don’t compare yourself to anyone else and take it as it comes. May be worth just keeping everything in case rather than getting rid before you know x

Avatar

With my first I went back to my original size a few months after birth but a different shape as my boobs were bigger

Avatar

not necessarily true... I had a c section and lost all the weight in two months. Each person is different!

Avatar

All my clothes fit postpartum. I breastfed and was back below pre pregnancy weight in 2 months. Most of the time you lose the weight.

Avatar

Yes, about a year postpartum and I was back in my old clothes!

Avatar

Everyone’s different
I was back in my old jeans after two weeks I’m also a uk size 6/8

Avatar

I'm 10 weeks PP and weigh less than I did before and my old clothes are loose 🤣 I have a jiggly belly though

Avatar

I was a size 8 before pregnancy, I now prefer size 10 as it’s comfier but still fit fine into my size 8 jeans/trousers xxx

Avatar

I was a 6-8 pre (3rd) pregnancy, went to a size 8-10 while pregnant, most of my maternity wear was 8, and was that size for maybe 2yrs, and now I can fit into all my size 6 clothes again, but I just need to tone which I’m doing every day at night in front of the tv. So I only went up one size really.

Avatar

I went back to my pre pregnancy size. Some clothes didn’t sit right but that was more item specific but overall I kept my wardrobe

Avatar

I was a 2/4 before preganancy and now I'm a 8/10. I'm 9m pp and still haven't gone back yet. I did keep my clothes from when I was at my biggest a few years ago and so happy I did. Never thought I would be this size again.

Avatar

I'm 7 weeks ppt, used to be a UK 12 and currently a UK 16 - hoping my tummy will go down more on its own and once I start walking more (just starting now as my stitches have finally healed) I may lose more weight, but when I look in the mirror its more of a change of shape than weight gain, as its my abdomen which seems a lot bigger/wider but my boobs and hips etc are a similar size to whay they were before

Avatar

This is different for every women. Some women bounce back immediately, some take months and some never do. If you tend to not eat a lot and have naturally been small without working out I’m sure you’ll go back to normal fast. Also depends on how much you gained. Normal weight is around 25-30lbs. I gained about 60lbs for both pregnancies. My first I didn’t go back to my normal weight, and after my second I went back to my normal weight but I had to really work out and eat less. But I noticed my body has attained more body fat even being around the same size.

Avatar

I actually got slimmer after the first birth after a few months. Now I’m pregnant with second baby and i already put so much weight. I really hope I’ll also lose it quickly.

Avatar

Just read all the comments so far! Thanks everyone haha 😝 I’m hoping I get to keep my boobs, it would actually be quite nice to go up a size as I’ve always tried and struggled to put weight on my whole life. I look forward to seeing the change or no change ☺️ I’ve kept the clothes and put them under the bed 🫧😊🩵
