My 2 week old has seemed insatiably hungry in the last couple hours. She’s had 7.5oz in 3 hours and to me that seems too much. Can anyone offer an explanation or tell me if this is kinda normal or should I try and the health visitor or gp?

are you breastfeeding or formula feeding if you dont mind me asking? she could be entering her first little growth spurt and needing to feed more at this time and thats absolutely normal. you cant over feed a BF baby but i am unsure if that applies with formula fed babies

She could be cluster feeding which is normal for growth at that age x

formula mainly occasional breast milk as my supply is low and I wanted to combie feed

okay thank you

If she’s not sicking it up again I would say it was fine.
My midwife said babies can be similar to us, sometimes they have hungry days, or want lots of ‘snacks’, and some days they’ll be less hungry.
But if you’re worried definitely have a chat with your HV :)

thank you that’s reassured me

When I was in hospital with my baby (less than a week old) he took 5oz then he was still rooting and hungry I was scared because they kept saying about over feeding him, one midwife said not to give him anymore and poor baby was restless all night long and and was clearly really hungry at his next feed and I can tell you I will never listen to her advice (not that I will see her again!) again. My community midwife said you know your baby and if he’s hungry ….feed him!! Sometimes bottle fed babys do suck and mimic feeding ques when they aren’t actually hungry and just want soothing but with ours we give him his dummy and soon realise if it’s food he’s after! If baby isn’t sicking up try not to worry but speak with your health visitor for some support because it’s tough feeling unsure xx

thank you so much
