Suspected cmpa

Hiya I’m just desperately looking for some advice as I’m just so lost on what to do.

I’m wondering if my baby could have cmpa as she have always been reluctant to feed since she was 3 months old she is currently 8 months she have always had max 24oz a day she has been on 4oz bottles since she was 3 months so I used to get 3-4oz sometimes only 2oz every 4 hours she also will not take a bottle from others apart from me and her nan she may take an 1oz an hour off others when she was exclusively bottle fed and she always been a sicky baby doctors told me it was reflux and prescribed gaviscon but this only worked for 2 weeks then I struggled to get her to take her milk at all I did mange it but she would have a few sips every half hour so I went back and told them it wasn’t working so they gave me lansoprazole and with this she did start taking bottles but she started having twitches(I’ve attached the Video of this) and again still really sicky but doctors still have just said reflux now that she’s on solids as well I’ve been able to drop her milk and she she has Ella’s kitchen pouch’s and she was having yogurts for dessert but still sick all the time I was having to change her 3-4 times a day, I put it down to she’s just always been a sicky baby but now we’ve noticed she eats a lot but she’s still dropping percentiles she’s currently on the 2nd, I’ve just tried cutting out dairy and I’ve noticed the sick is now only after her bottle and it’s only little amounts I also noticed after reading ur posts my baby has similar poos and as well as this my baby have never been a good sleeper but I’ve noticed since reducing her milk she’s been so much better still not completely sleeping but sleeping longer, she have also been constantly I’ll with snotty noise since the beginning of January but I’m just lost on what to do as I’ve been back and fourth the doctors so much and they’ve pushed me off saying she has reflux but no reflux medicine is working but now she had dropped below the 2nd percentile and my health Vistor spoke to my GP they are now discussing blood tests.

Just so you know my baby is 8months old and she is 13lb10 so she is still really small.

Is anyone else experienced desperate for some advice

In my experience gp’s don’t help much even after diagnosis they will usually always refer you to the specialist or dietitian at the hospital.
You can take her to the hospital and explain say you are worried as she is not taking much milk and the symptoms she has.
The hospital doesn’t do blood tests to my knowledge but they will most likely trial your baby on a suitable milk and if she doesn’t take it they usually add nesquik powder to help babies with the taste.
You’ll then most likely have specialist care and a dietitian at your hospital with appointments checking weight and how she is they will also go through the milk ladder with you I hope this helps x

Have you tried lactose free milk powder ? Always give that a try ….i was told it was reflux for ages with my boy ….took me months to get the right milk …many days and nights of him screaming and crying nearly tipped me over the edge! He now and still on neocate and he is 16 nearly 17 months old. I was told possibly cmpa when he was 2 weeks and they refused to change it till he was 3/4 months old keep pushing mama x

Firstly so sorry you’re going through this mama! I know first hand how awful it is having a baby with CPMA and fobbed off by doctors. I was at the doctors every single week. First was told oh babies throw up and babies cry, then got told he had a cold then reflux but I KNEW deep in my heart it wasn’t reflux as nothing was helping. I persisted with the doctors and they finally prescribed milk and it’s been life changing. Don’t give up. Next time you go to the doctors just insist on getting it as a trial and that you’ve literally tried everything and all the evidence you’ve laid out. They give you a one month trial anyway so there’s literally no harm to them (except the cost I suppose) but don’t give up x

My son ( 17 weeks ) was prescribed nutramigen at around 3 weeks old. Before that he was on aptamil, also tried cow & gate. His symptoms with them were blocked nose , little rashes on his face after a bottle, constipated, struggled to poo and didn't sleep well at all. As soon as he was prescribed the dairy free formula all his symptoms went away and he's such a happy baby now, been sleeping through the night since 10 weeks. You can buy lactose free formula from Asda or other places so may be worth trying that if the GP wont do anything ? X

There’s a couple things here which can indicate a feeding issue should be ruled out before an allergy. You mention bottle feeding amounts, poor sleeping, reflux and “twitches”. How does she take a bottle? Is her latch good? Could she be in taking air which causes the reflux? Twitches could be tension - in which case a chiropractor is meant to be really helpful. Whilst it could be an issue with the formula, I’d make sure there isn’t a feeding issue (I.e tension causing it or a tongue tie) going on too

Hi, my baby is diagnosed with CMPA and a soya allergy. It was a nightmare to sort out! She's also EBF. I was told it was really bad reflux - I do think she had reflux but when I look back I think directly linked to the CMPA. I reported to going to A&E when I was at my wits end. You can get different milks on prescription . Feel free to pop me a message if you want to chat about CMPA. We are just starting to ween now too. Xx
