Sterilising bottles and preparing
Hey ever I’m a FTM preparing to have my baby. I’m 36 weeks pregnant and people have been telling me I should sterilise his bottles before he’s born. Is this true?
And if so then how do you store them afterwards because I’m pretty sure I’ve read somewhere once you’ve sterilised bottles they only last 24 hours before you have to do it again. Any advice?
While we are here what other things would you recommend doing before baby arrives to make life a little easier for myself.

Bottles are only sterile for 24 hours so I wouldn’t until you’re home from the hospital. Mine stay in the steriliser until I use them 😊
I formula fed from the beginning and I took it the ready made formula to the hospital for an easy life.
My only advice is to ensure ur hospital bag is packed, I left mine till 37 weeks and regretted doing it that late😂
I thought this was the case I have no idea why I’ve been told to do it before. I’ve started packing a bag but still feel completely lost 😭
Is worth doing a full clean and sterilise so long as you're aware that you will need to do it again. It is definitely a good opportunity to get used to your steriliser, though!
I tried to find the list I did for my hospital bag but I can’t find it.
I think I packed 3x newborn vests and grows,
3x 0-3 vests and grows
Hat x3
Coming home outfit
Muslin x2
Nappies
Cotton wool
Wipes
Milk
Blanket
Then for me
Nightwear x3 (nightdress is a life saver)
Underwear x5
Maternity pads
Boob pads (can’t remember the name LOL)
Lounge wear to come home
Travel wash things
Socks & slippers
Phone charger
But I hardly used mine, I had an emergency csection but was discharged 24hours later😂
I agree. No harm in sterilising it twice. I am in week 35. I intend to sterilise the bottles once now. And once more after I’m back from hospital. 😅
