Help private renting

Hey , wondered if anyone has been in this situation.i am private renting a one bedroom . I am currently on the council waiting list to move but obviously taking a long time. Me and my partner have split up and I can’t afford the rent I will also need to let universal credit know we aren’t together as we have a joint claim.

I’m still on maternity leave and just so lost I don’t know what to do ! I think will my priority go down on the council as we won’t be so over crowded. My daughter is nearly 5 months.

Any advice on how I can either stay in my house for the mean time ?

I’d let UC know you’re now single, they could up your payments, and/or help with rent, is your ex paying anything for baby? Could you get a part time job? Is there anyone who can help you with looking after baby? Can you ex look after the baby a couple days a week? From September if both parents are working at least 16 hours a week then you get 15 hours free childcare.

Can you call your local council and see how far you are up the list?

thank you for the advice , my ex is currently away sorting his mental health out this was half of why we ended as he isn’t mentally well and it’s too much stress for me . My parents are local but both work full time I thought about going back to work early but it’s the childcare fee.

Yeah childcare can be ridiculously expensive, do your parents work Monday-Friday? Could pick up a weekend job, you’d have to see if you’d get more working partime or if you’re getting more on maternity pay.
You could possibly look and see about working at a nursery? Most offer discounted rates for their employees?

It can be so hard these days, I’m sorry I don’t have any better advice
