Pregnancy dating

TW: 🌈🌈 Those with irregular cycles 35 days + and go off date of ovulation, have you been able to work out how many weeks pregnant you are. It gets so confusing?

I have periods that are too close together at times, but ovulated 3 weeks after lmp.. I wasn’t keeping track of ovulation, I got a positive pregnancy test at three weeks and thought that I was four weeks based off of LMP, but they do a dating scan your very first appointment where they measure your fetal pole, and they ended up pushing my due date back a week.. so you will get the most accurate dating when you get your first scan.

@Kiarra thank you! It’s just so confusing. I mean I have a little boy already, but I was like 7 weeks when I found out I was pregnant with him. I’ve had two miscarriages since and this is my fourth pregnancy and my cycles are 35 days ish in length. This cycle I ovulated on day 17 and my period was due 14 days later. So I’m just wondering how people would work it out based on longer cycle lengths xx

You can literally ovulate at any time for any cycle length and it’s so confusing 😭 my sister usually has longer periods and went in thinking she was 8 weeks and found out she was 10 😅

@Kiarra yea it is. I do track my ovulation though and it’s pretty consistent each month. I’m just wondering how you work it out from conception date, do you add 2 weeks like you would if you track it by your period. If that makes sense xx

@Gemma so you would just add two weeks from ovulation/conception. Like in my situation, I thought I was four weeks based off of my LMP, but I ovulated later, so they moved it up and did not count my LMP. so I was three weeks instead of four. But once you have a growth scan, they will be able to give you a more accurate dating.

@Kiarra oh amazing that makes sense then! Xx
