Heartbroken 😢

Has any other mums got little ones that are obsessed with their dads more than you? I literally feel like my heart is breaking, all my little boy wants is his dad it’s like he doesn’t care if I’m there or not :( even when he was poorly he just wanted his dad or if he hurts himself. I feel like am just not needed at all and it’s just making it so hard for me to bond with him as I feel like he hates me 💔😩 (he’s 13 months)

Bless you 😢 how much time does he spend with dad?x

we aren’t together so don’t live together but he comes round every night and does bath and bed time. Then he has him on Saturdays for the full day x

My son is a daddies boy he’s 2 me and his dad aren’t together but he comes for him 3 times a week and it’s like I don’t exist so I know the feeling. Try not to take it to heart I know it’s hard

Could you alternate on doing bath/bedtime with his dad?
If you feel you’re missing out, by him doing it every night, that seems like a shame. However, if you’re happy for him to do it, so that you have a bit of time out, that fair enough too. But some bath time with you might not be a bad thing for you to feel more connected.

it’s awful isn’t it 😭 I feel like no matter how much effort I make with him he just still wants his dad not me :( it breaks my heart x

I do do some nights bath/bed time I would say I do at least 2/3 a week but yes it’s mainly so I can get some homework done whilst he’s bathing him. I feel like we are connected when his dad isn’t there but as soon as he comes he doesn’t wanna know me and he won’t come to me or anything it’s awful :(

That’s hard - but it sounds like he’s secure, if he’s happily playing, which is something important to remember. And good that you otherwise feel well connected.
I guess it’s good to try to use the time out positively, so that then you can be ready and organised for when he’s spending time with you again.
If your child is happy, whichever of you he’s with, that’s the most important part and would suggest that you’re doing your job well 💕

He could change as he gets older tho you’ll always be his mummy

thank you for helping me see it differently your right he is happy and that’s all that matters! Just need to accept it and am sure he’ll want me one day 🙈x

Avatar

He definitely wants you too, if you feel connected when he’s with you.
I expect he’s happy at least in part because he knows you are reliably there for him. So don’t worry about that. He needs you now
