Eczema

Have you tried any emollient creams? So epaderm or fifty fifty? We use that as a preventative measure for my wee boy! We do have a steroid cream that I’ve had to use on his chin because he’s also teething and his chin is so bad just now it’s cracked and bleeding - my HV did say it would get worse when teething. We had it under control before then!

Have you had it reviewed by the GP? It’s a completely legitimate reason to take him to be seen.
They may look at hydrocortisone (mild steroid cream - though the ointment works better frankly), and they may try an antifungal like clotrimazole (there is also a combined cream with both of these in it).

The gp gave us a cream which is called hydrobase (I think) but it just rubs straight off as soon as his hands are in his mouth! I’ve also tried the Aveeno as I use that on the rest of his body, but that hasn’t worked. I think I may need to take him back to the gp and see if they can prescribe something different. Thanks both! cetaphil cream worked for my baby!

Some moms on here said to skip the prescription cream and go for La Roche Posay Lipikar. It’s expensive buuuut seems to soothe inflamed skin

I also used blended oats in a sock in the bath, add olive oil or breast milk if possible. It’s trial and error

Use the cream you've been given as a soap substitute and just keep applying. Avoid anything else in the bath water and avoid using wipes on face as cba irritate x

My son has just started getting patches of eczema on his arms and legs since we started his weaning journey. GP prescribed a combined cream for a week but tbh it hasn’t done anything and the eczema is spreading.

I’m using Childs farm products for bath and moisturiser and also breast milk in bath. My son also has dribble rash so using Vaseline or Bepanthen barrier cream as recommended by my HV.

I’m trying to rule out any reactions to food but so far can’t pinpoint any as I’d need the eczema to disappear and then try things one by one. I feel it’s a gut immune response to the weaning process and I too get patches of eczema now and again so just going to keep doing what I’m doing and monitor it and if skin starts cracking or getting very red etc then I’ll book a GP appointment.

Ask your Dr for elidel cream. Its a non steroid vrwam they use for kids with psoriasis and eczema. It won't peel or discolour skin. Works more slowly but is more gentle and you can use it for lofe if need be. I was prescribed this for myself by a dermatologist and have used it on my daughter for a few patches she's developed as per Dr instructions. My godson also used it and it worked a charm

I’d consider potential allergy to dairy. GP can formulate hydrolysed formula. In case of breastfeeding, I’d reduce the intake of dairy and see if that helps. Also keep baby nails short. Hope you little one gets better soon.

Vaseline and tubby Tod all over ointment 2 times a day use non scented baby wash and location And if you breastfeed milk baths work miracles!
