I have to give mine vitamin D drops because he wasn't gaining enough in the time frame the dr wanted but babies typically have to take it so they can absorb calcium and phosphorus and typically breast mild doesn't provide enough of that

Most people I'm the uk don't get enough vitamin d anyway, and there is not enough in breast milk to meet the babies needs. It's really important for absorption of calcium. It's recommended for everyone in the UK to take a vit d supplement but especially under 5s

In the US. My pediatrician told me to. Not 100% sure why but I trust his expertise

It's recommended in places that don't get a lot of sun like the UK. Helps prevent rickets.

That’s the thing I seen some YouTube mom do it and I’ve notice a lot of breast feeding mom do it , I just get scared bc I never breast feed before so I wonder what are the pros and cons but I’ll look more into it but thank you

So what i have found is that our bodies dont produce Vitamin D themselves, so your babies will deplete your Vitamin D if they aren't getting enough in their diet(aka breast milk) and then you could start to have issues. So it's easier to give them a drop a day than to have mom take some sort of vitamin D supplement.

In the UK all breastfed babies need a daily Vit D supplement x
