Nuby flask

Recently started using the rapid cool and flask made by Nuby. Just wondered how long does the water stay hot in the flask to make a bottle? Does preheating it make a difference?

I only do mine for 3 hours at a time as that’s my daughters feeding time, so after her feed I will fill it back up with boiling water for the next feed xx

I do the same as above ☺️

Can someone explain to me how these work? We’ve just started giving our baby 1 bottle of formula a day at night. Don’t want to get the prep machine as know they’re dangerous but we can never get the timing right

I do the hot shot method, so I put for example 5oz oh boiling water in her bottle then pore about 3/4 oz from the bottle into the rapid cool, I leave that for a few mins, while I wait for that I put 5 scoops of formula into her bottle with the boiling water and mix it till lumps are gone. After a few mins I tip the rapid cool water in the bottle and the bottle is at the correct temp for my baby to have a bottle on the go ☺️ hope that makes sense x

forgot to tag you in it, just posted above how I do it x

You can do it by putting the formula into the rapid cool but then you would have to sterilise after every use, so that’s why I do a hot shot so I can keep using it through out the day xx

I’m not sure I understand lol! So you use the rapid cool to cool the boiled water? Not the whole bottle?
I thought you had to wait 30 mins from boiled water as boiling water ruins the formula but anything under 70degrees doesn’t kill the bacteria?
So I was thinking how does the rapid cool work if you can’t put boiling water with powder. But we still have to wait 20 mins for it to cool down further so thought I guess 2 minutes is better than 20

Iv only ever used boiling water! Never been told I couldn’t. Even when I didn’t have the rapid cool I used to put boiled water in the bottle then formula then put in ice water to get it to temp quicker x

Avatar

it cools the water down to room temp

Same here and it’s the same method the Prep Machine does.

I do the same. Boiling water hotshot, rest of the boiling water into the rapid cool to bring it down to warm. Then add to bottle. My boy likes it colder so if I go out, I put the boiling water into the rapid cool hours before to cool it and take a flask with hot water for the hot shot.

Ok this makes sense,
I read that using boiling water ruins the nutrients in the formula but it has to be 70 degrees or more to kill
The bacteria. So hot shot method would work if it comes straight from kettle. I wouldn’t use the prep machine read too much nasty stuff about them.
My question is if we’re using sterilised bottles because the powder goes into it and then the hot water killed the bacteria why do you then need to sterilise the rapid cool.
And how do you sterilise the rapid cool.
Formula feeding is a mind field….

We use the Prep Machine, I check the temperature regularly of the hot shot and it’s always over 80. You don’t need to sterilise the rapid cool if you aren’t making the formula in it. It’s why Jasmyn and I do the hot shot method. The rapid cool is designed that you put the formula in it, but to avoid sterilising we do it how described. If you need to sterilise you can put it in cold water with a Milton tablet. Not the lid. Only the bottle part.

Ok great thank you I think I’ve got it now :-)

Avatar

You’ll crack it! We find it so useful! Although a tad annoying he prefers it cooler now so have to make it up a bit earlier 🤣

Avatar

yes I’m going to order one tonight

I sterilise my rapid cool once a week just for peace of mind, so I know it’s properly cleaned and sterilised ☺️ but I’m constantly putting boiling water in it so it constantly sterilising itself! I like to get the rubber bits all nice and clean and sterilised in the cold water steriliser at least once a week if not more☺️xx

Avatar

I watched a TikTok when I was pregnant and someone never washed there rapid cook and it grew mold in the rubber inserts so now I’m paranoid 😂

Avatar

why not the lid? I just panicked reading your comment as I been putting the lid in too but I have just gone back to the instructions and it says it’s ok to sterilise the lid in cold water

Avatar

I always sterilise the lid, I do this for 15 mins in cold water steriliser then take it out xx

Avatar

Oh maybe it’s steam sterilising or dishwashing? I’m sure it says something about not doing some form of sterilising / cleaning with the lid part. Sorry my bad!
