I would look for a second opinion, and push for an in-person appointment so the option of an examination is there (if you feel comfortable ofc). It's very easy to blame breastfeeding without actually checking anything else and you should be supported to continue BF as long as it is what is right for you and baby
I suffer with endometriosis and had my periods back since 2 months pp, and breastfeeding too, id deffintly push a second opinion as it's not down to bf at all, Id maybe ask for a scan just to ensure everything is ok, your gp can request this. Could be a cyst on your ovaries, maybe your lining is quite thick, could be numerous things. They cant just put it down to the bf as thats a load of pollywoddocks xx
I would push for a face to face appointment to be safe. Sorry you’re going through that, breastfeeding whilst on period isn’t great, let alone for so long.
Omg!!! I can’t tell you how pleased I am to read this. I mean, not that it’s happening but to hear it’s happening to someone else! I could have wrote this myself!!!! I only breastfeed twice a day now and don’t intend on stopping until it’s right for the both of us. But literally since January my periods have gone from regular to two weekly - like you, the blood is fresher and thicker. I’ve been sitting on it… wondering if it’s normal or whether to reach out. I think I will, after reading this xx
I have no advice for you but just wanted to say I’m so sorry you’re going through that! I would definitely ask for more help from your GP though as that doesn’t sound normal! I am still breast feeding and I know what you mean about wanting to him to naturally wean from breast milk. I feel the same about my BF journey even though I also feel ready to stop. I feel so guilty wanting to stop when she is happy and prefers the boob to a bottle!
