Maternity leave start date suggestions

I am at the end of my 2nd trimester. Almost 26 weeks. I was told that I have gestational diabetes, low Ferritin (<10) and my weight gain hasn't been as per the mark. I feel fine and doesn't affect my day to day except the stress of it. I want to realistically know from someone who has been through something like this, when is the right time to go on maternity? From a health perspective as well as undivided attention to my issues and whether I am overthinking this... Would be really helpful.

Unless you’re too tired to work. I would work as long as possible so I could spend as much time off with baby. Have GD or how much weight you gain shouldn’t make you need to leave early unless it’s affecting whether or not you can do your job. Listen to your body and if you can’t handle it I suggest going on sick leave and then starting maternity once baby is born. I’m in Canada and I just needed a note from my OB that I couldn’t work and then I was off at 32 weeks and still got my full maternity/paternity leave once baby was born.

I am also GD, low ferritin mama here. 32 weeks as of today. I’m still fine on energy level, but working is more hard than ever, mentally vice (like my priorities shifted)
Planning to go off 37-38 weeks using my vacation days first and then starting maternity leave when the baby comes. Also in Canada.

Thank you so much for the insights. I think I might have to give an upfront 'hey I might start my leave a little early based on how I feel' types notice. I think as long as I can keep up and prioritize my health and keep working, I should. 37/38 weeks sounds good to start with too. Thanks girls ❤
