Spending part of maternity/paternity leave abroad?

I am thinking of spending 1-2 months abroad this fall with my husband and kids who will be 7 mths and 2 yrs old at that time. I’m open to using more than one location as a home base and taking day trips. Ideally I am thinking somewhere that has access to good/modern medicine and hospitals just in case the kids get sick.

Would really appreciate any suggestions or advice!

Costa Rica is awesome for this! We spent 2 weeks there when my son was 20 months old and it was phenomenal. The water is potable, it is really safe and they have great medical care. It is more expensive than other, similar, tropical places which is sort of the price you pay for the clean water, safety and good medical care

I’ve heard Portugal is great for families!

We are spending 5 weeks traveling around east Africa at the end of my mat leave.

In Asia we are doing to be travelling a lot , in Croatia we are renting a car to drive around. Both times we will have grandparents with us
