Wandsworth housing?

Honestly it’s useless me and my family have been on the list 9 years and we are at number 34 and we received a letter to say we were entitled to a 4 bedroom but we wouldn’t get anything as they haven’t got the availability for us x

i really don’t understand how this queue system works, im on band b but position 247 for a 2 bed seems like ill wait for a while. I think there are more 1 beds to give out x

try to stay positive I have a relative on wandsworth who just got a 3 bed after waiting 7 years x

Was on the Wandsworth council list for 6+ years for a 2 bed got to number 100 by then I needed a 3 bed as I had another child so I got pushed down to number 200 then down to 50 and I randomly got a call one day followed up by an email offering me a 3 bed house with a garden, was so shocked as I thought you literally had to be at number 1 to get something. Moved in October and by next year October I’m told that the place is permanently mine for life

that’s brilliant! Congrats to you! How long did it take for you to get down from 200 to 50? And were you at 50 when you got the call or at position 1?

It’s very confusing on whether one day they can just offer as many houses/flats as possible or it’s slow and steady

hi hun,yes it has moved to the 100s last time I checked (login doesn’t work atm) I got sent a letter but I provided documents so it could be why x

no u don’t have to move band you’ll get it a place at band B. I’m waiting on a 2 bedroom also. People have been offered a place at position 50. Because you can be in band B position 35 but the 35 people might want a 3 or 4 bedroom so you’ll be number 1 for a 2 bedroom if that makes sense

Hi! Just commenting for an update on your situation! I was down to position 180 on the general needs que, then I’ve just logged in now and I’ve been moved to homeless que position 239 ! So frustrated! I don’t know if this is a good or bad thing … anyone had this happen to them?

were you made homeless, is that why you moved to the homeless queue? It might a good thing you may get higher priority

no turns out I had 2 applications going. But now they’ve moved me to the homeless que I no longer am entitled to a 2 bedroom only a 1 bedroom with my son now but it’s better than nothing.

The Wandsworth council housing list seems to not be moving in band b. Is anyone having the same issue?

My sisters in band b, she was number 404 in September and now 370 something in December. It seems to be moving for her

really? It hasn’t moved for me in 2 weeks now, still at the same number. Maybe we all want the same thing which is the 2 bed

Oh no really, I remember there was times when the list wouldn’t move for a whole month!
she’s recently been put on the list for a 3 bedroom property in November so that’s properly why it’s moving for her

Hi does anyone know how the list works as I’m a band b general needs queue and number 20 for a 4 bedroom. My number has gone up and down over the past year long ever as low as 17 and 20 being the highest and it’s just moved up to that again last week. I have been on the list for 6 and half years. I have 6 children at my mother’s house and we only have use of 2 bedrooms. I feel that as I’m higher than I was this time last year it’s not ever going to happen.

hi Love, how many rooms are you on the list for? I spoke to my housing officer about this and she said it’s a ´fluid’ system which is frustrating so it means it goes up and down. Based on my research if you are looking for a 1 bed/studio they seem to be more available but for instance 3 or more tends to be a longer wait.

They are building new houses/flats and some will be completed by the end of the year/beginning of next year so hopefully you’ll be next. 20 is low good luck! X

Sorry I forgot to put it on will edit. 4 bedrooms. I know they are few and far between but we obviously share everything in my mother’s house. She has 4 bedrooms. She uses 2 one for herself and one for my brother who is 20 so cannot share with any of my children. And we have use of 2. I have my 3 eldest in one and 3 in with me. We also have a fridge etc in our room as my mother’s kitchen is tiny. We have 1 toilet for the whole house. I just really thought we would have been a higher priority. If I could afford to rent privately I would but it’s just not possible. But I feel so sad for my children recently.

sometimes you go up because someone new will be on the list that is higher priority for example if someone has been waiting 6 years for a 3 bed but now is entitled to a 4 bed they will be put infront of you because they’ve been waiting longer but now need a extra bedroom, or if someone circumstances are higher like if they are given a eviction notice, that’s why it goes up and down if you go up it means someone new has been added and is higher priority xx
