Potty training!!!

My son is almost 14 months and I was curious when to start potty training and pull ups ect. I know it’s still a little early but I want to be ready!!

I’d say when he’s noticing he’s having a wee or poo in his nappy he’s showing signs he’s ready, when my little one is older I plan to just have the potty out for her to look at and sit on while still in nappies to get her used to it in hopes it’ll be an easier transition😂 your little boy is beautiful though! Just do what you think is right for your little one☺️x

My daughter is 14 months and we've started last week. I only put pull ups on her when we leave the house but when we are gone we free ball and or use her training panties.

I used pull ups as soon as they fit my boy as he was to wriggly for putting a nappy on 🤣
It's probably best to introduce a potty as soon as possible get him to sit on it etc and talk about it snd once he sits on it frequently try without a nappy jusy be prepared for wee on the floor

Have you heard of elimination communication? I did that a bit when I worked as a nanny and now with my 7 week old :) I use sign language and then put her on a baby potty at different times of the day. Wait about 30-45 seconds, sometimes she pees and/or poos, sometimes nothing. Then I put a diaper on her. But maybe at your son’s age you could do training undies. I recommend the book Go Diaper Free!!

If you start too early, some kids go through a “potty training regression”. I’ve found it’s best to start around 24months. Once they’re able to recognize that they’ve peed or pooped in their diaper, start pushing the language and communicating of it HARD and the rest will follow! Consistency is KEY. Some kids get it in a few days, some take longer. You can switch to pull ups whenever you want, and then start putting them on the potty when you officially start training. Seeing you use the toilet as example, rewards (whatever kind you decide) and excitement when they try to use the potty and even more excitement when they do successfully use the potty are super helpful!
