Hip dysplasia

My 5m old has had uneven leg creases since birth and was checked by a paediatrician who said her hips were fine at 6 weeks. I've noticed she uses one leg more than the other at times so I'm going to see a GP. Has anyone experienced something similar and could it be mild and possibly fix by itself? šŸ˜• Absolutely terrified of the idea of surgery!

Im in the exact same boat! :(

My daughter was borderline on her hip ultrasound but then at 6mo we got an X-ray and she had Hip Dysplasia. She was in a brace for 6 months. It was tough going but worth it and now she is running around perfectly. Follow your gut mumma. Our ortho said that most of the time you can avoid surgery if braced before 1. Please get an X-ray and 2nd opinion. Our ortho was absolutely amazing - Dr. Arnold Suzuki based at Prince of Wales private, specialises in kiddies

Following I have upcoming ultrasound for my 3 months old

I would 100% get a second opinion. My boy was put in a brace when he was 3 days old and will be having an ultrasound at 6 weeks. Donā€™t wait too long as mentioned by someone else before 1 the brace usually fixes it and avoids surgery. Goodluck!

Iā€™m going through this too. I got an x-ray and they say everything is fine, but my got instinct as a mama is telling me I need to see someone else to get a more of an opinion on it. One of my sons leg is longer than the other and has no crease on one leg and on the other has it

Sorry & not the other

@Michy Michelle šŸ‡¦šŸ‡ŗ Oh gosh šŸ„ŗ go with your instincts! Let us know how it goes šŸ™šŸ½

If it helps - I had hip dysplasia when I was born. I had surgery and a brace but I donā€™t remember and it hasnā€™t affected me at all in life. Iā€™ve never had any musculoskeletal problems. The only person affected was my mum as she felt so sad and sorry for me. She said that she always carried me around and she never put me down. The surgery/treatment options and recovery timeframes these days Iā€™m sure would be better than 28 years agoā€¦ and if there is anything wrong with her hips (sounds very mild if anything in comparison to my hip dysplasia) she will be so fine. Try not to stress too much about it but you are doing the right thing to get it checked so you can alleviate any anxiety about it, and help her too if she needs any treatment xx

My daughter was a breech baby so she had ultrasound at 6, 12 and 18 weeks. After the 3rd one she was cleared by the paediatrician. At 6 months check up our GP noticed different creases in her tights and send us for Xray. After that we were referred to Dr. Arnold Suzuki already mentioned by someone else that is specialising in kids. She was braced when 8 months old (it took a while to get appointment with the specialist as it was Xmas break) for 20 hours per day. The first 2 weeks were hard but we got through it and she got used to the brace. She doesn't like it but tolerates it. It's more work for mum, I am sure she won't remember any of this but the important thing is that we will make everything possible so her hips are healthy. She only has mild dysplasia. Definitely recommend having a 2nd opinion. Message me if you have any questions, we are only 6 weeks into the journey though. Also recommend joining a FB group for hip dysplasia, you can see all different stories there and ask questions.

Our little one had mild hip dysplasia found on a newborn check. She had hip ultrasounds at 8 weeks and again at 12 weeks, as recommended by the paediatrician. The 12 week ultrasound was much better and showed no dysplasia. We are going for an X-ray when she is 6 months just to look at bone structure, as the paediatrician has noticed that her creases still arenā€™t 100%.
