Does anyone know if it cost money to rent a space to have a kids birthday party at the Richmond zoo? Or can you just show up and do it?

Probably, everything costs money
No, there is no cost to have a picnic pavilion for your birthday. You can call in advance to reserve one. I did it for my birthday last year and it was the best! We paid $75 for an "animal encounter" and had an armadillo visit the party

you pick the animal! The options were penguin, skunk, snake, bat, armadillo
