Hi just looking for some advice! Might be a bit long but here we go. I’m due back to work in June after 9 months maternity. I’ve spoke to my boys everything’s sorted for it. However, my partner threw a spanner in the works and is now saying we could probably afford for me to take the extra three months off. I was just wondering if anyone’s ever changed their mind about when they’re coming back? I’ve read on the gov website that I need to give 8 weeks notice of the change if return date. Also does anyone know what help we’d be entitled to? We currently receive universal credit but wondering if that would go up? My partner works 24hrs a week but doesn’t get loads of money. I’m now thinking it would probably be better for me and my family if I stayed at home. So torn on what to do. We’re willing to cut down on things so I don’t need to go back but I’m just anxious how my boss would react (I work in a nursery)Please share your experiences! Xx

You’re entitled to 1 year by law so isn’t much they can say x

As long as you give them the 8 week notice either way, not much the boss can say or do. If they make a fuss when you do return or mess with your job description, they aren't allowed to do that either.
But most folk are reasonable. It will be fine.
