Please can someone explain to me the hot shot method for making up a bottle? Baby is bf during the day but we're starting to introduce formula at night. I heard it talked about the other day, but don't really understand how to do it and make sure the powder is sterilised? Tia

Not really sure how to do it on your own but I’ve got the prep machine and it gives like an ounce of hot water to put the milk with then it adds cold water to make it the right temp for baby to drink

So you boil the kettle, put 1/3 hot water into a baby bottle, add the formula to the hot water to kill any bacteria then top up 2/3 cooled boiled water. I used to keep bottles of the cooled water in the fridge.
So if you’re making a 6oz bottle you’d do 2oz hot water and 4oz cold.
Always add the powder to hot water above 70 degrees.

Yes this is how we did it too

Thank you! Sorry if this is a silly question, but with the powder to water ratio, do you only put in the right amount of powder for the boiled water, or it all combined? So if I was making a 5oz bottle, using 2oz boiled water and the rest cooled boiled water, would I only use 2 scoops or 5 scoops of powder? X

not a silly question! you’d use the full amount of formula for the full feed as all the powder needs to be sterilised by the hot water x

I fill up bottles to about 3oz with boiled water , stick in fridge then when ready for bottle I boil kettle again fill up to 6oz with hot so it’s like 3 cold 3 hot x
