Has anyone else made the decision to not go back to work after maternity leave? I have been going back and forth worrying about the outcome either way! But I have finally decided that I won’t be going back for potentially another year. I’ve worked all my life since being 16 but I feel that being a teacher is too demanding mentally for me right now. But I’m struggling to let go of the control of being in work, has anyone else struggled with letting go of work?

This was literally me at the start of the year
how did it go?

I had anxiety realising I was due back this year and it suddenly felt like I was stripped of time with my LO. I have worked since 16 too so it was bizarre I was even debating being a SAHM. I spoke to my partner and said I didn’t feel ready to leave our LO full time, and his response was, “then dont”. I’m fortunate I have a supportive partner and we are able to afford me being at home for a while longer. As difficult as it has been i recognise it’s also a privilege to be able to have this time with baby. Since making the decision I have felt a weight lifted off my shoulders. I know I’ll go back to working eventually as I know i wouldn’t want to stay at home indefinitely and also just for financial freedom but at least I don’t have the pressure of a time scale. Now I have removed that all my anxiety about it has gone
Ahhh that’s good! Yeah it is a privilege and I’m lucky enough to be in the same boat! What is it that you do/did as a job? X

Private healthcare management, I had a couple of clinics that specialised in eye surgery 😮💨. Loved it !!! So hard to step back from something you invest so much in and genuinely enjoy , but I’ll get the opportunity again once I’m ready to reconsider working

I’m a teacher too and struggling with the idea of going back to work so I’m going to look into going back part time to at least feel like I’m still able to spend some time with my little one plus it helps with childcare not working the full time just hope I can go back part time
