I’ve always suspected my daughter has CMPA been to two different doctors at GP and both fobbed off as just reflux as she puts in weight. (Long story). Anyways… she is EBF and I switched to non dairy alternatives I.e oat milk with my porridge etc and her vomiting pretty much stopped. Yesterday I’d been to a soft play with a friend and ordered a hot chocolate with oat milk. I suspect they may have used cows milk by accident cos a few hours later she was back to vomiting after feeds again. My question is we want to try her with cows milk direct to her as part of the allergen weaning process. I was intending on get some whole milk and mixing a little into her avocado. She’s eaten avocado many times and we know she doesn’t have any reactions to this. But Asda only had giant bottles of whole milk so instead I’ve taken a full fat natural yoghurt. Is this okay? Also again was thinking about just mixing a small amount in with her avocado. My biggest worry is how she’s gonna react and is it gonna be a hospital visit or could she go into anaphylaxis?

If you think she has a milk allergy then u need to do the milk ladder. Its a slow process to introduce milk into her system in the hope that her body doesnt “fight it”. I wouldnt jump to yoghurt or milk as these are right at the top of the milk ladder. The fact you think u had milk yesterday and shes reacted i defo wouldnt try now. I was always told if a reaction happens u have to go back to diary free for 3 months before you try again x

I would also suggest using the milk ladder, it's a much more gentle way of reintroducing milk and also finding out how much milk your daughter is able to handle, if any

It could be down to the powder in the jot chocolate containing milk powder so I agree with above give it a few months and then try the milk ladder

Thanks for the responses, just wanna check why we need to wait a few months now before doing a proper test as advice always seems to be to test allergens at the beginning of weaning. Could we start the milk ladder now?

because u think u had milk the other day and she reacted u have to wait for the gut to heal before u try again xx
