under feeding?

i’m a first time mom and my little guy was born march 26th. i started off exclusively pumping but after mental drain i am switching to formula. we have been doing 1oz bm and 1oz formula every 4 hours for two days now. he just took a 3oz bottle for the first time tonight. i read that at his age he should be eating every 2-3 hours. am i underfeeding him? should i increase to every 3 hours? he does great between feeds and doesn’t give hunger ques and if he does i always offer a bottle

My baby girl was born the 19th and eats 2 ounces every 2-4 hours, she is gaining weight the way she needs and pediatrician is not worried. As long as he isn’t losing weight and the pediatrician isn’t concerned than you are doing fine mama!

@Haley same! Mine was born March 24th and eats a 3.5oz bm bottle every two-three depending on if he’s hungry thinking of maybe switching him to 4

My daughter was born on the 20th and eats 2-3 ounces every 2-4 hours.
It’s honestly based off your child if they aren’t showing signs of still being hungry after feeding then you do what’s best. My doc told me at my daughters check up that it’s better to make a bigger bottle and then not drink it all because they will drink till full but they may not give signs of still being hungry pretty young.

My Asher was also born on the 26th! He nurses for around 30 minutes when he nurses. When he takes a bottle he eats around 3oz. He eats every 2 1/2-3 hours.

my sweet girl was born on the 29th and she does 60-75ml everytime she eats typically 3-4 hours during the day and since she's at birth weight we don't wake over night unless she wakes us and then it's 60-75 ml more.

how are you able to produce 3.5oz every 2-3 hours? Plz give me all the tips and tricks! 😭 I’m 3 weeks pp and still producing MAYBE an ounce once a day, then the rest of the time i pump through the day it’s less than half an ounce…from both boobs combined! It’s so emotionally exhausting and depressing. 😭

My daughter was born on 3/24 and I just bumped her up to 3oz . She would take 2oz and then want to latch on after so I figured I’d increase it.

She latch on just now and took 2oz after. So just follow babies cues: your his mother you know him best.

Your baby will let you know if they are still hungry . My baby girl was born March 3rd and is exclusively breastfed so I can’t tell exactly how much she eats but I’m thinking around 3-3.5 ounces and I have her on a rough schedule of every 3 hrs during the day and then she sleeps through the night so that’s a 6 hr or so stretch( asked pediatrician and he said this was completely fine) if your baby is gaining weight you are doing just fine. Something that was nice for me and my husband to be able to track weight gain was buying a Bluetooth scale that could connect to our phones and we could track weight gain!

real talk, I just gave her 2 ounces and she was still hungry so I gave her 2 more.

as an over producer I would recommend that you do power pumping which essentially puts you on a schedule and has you pumping each time for 35 minutes no Matter how much milk comes out. I would also recommend the boobie bars they have them at target , as well as increase you water intake and honestly go on tik tok and get more ideas on how to increase milk supply. Good luck !

we can stop waking over night if they’re back to birth weight and gaining??? My son was born the 8th and we wake him up at the 5hr mark overnight but are always the ones to wake him up - I’d love to just let him sleep until he wakes us!

that's what our lactation nurse told us on Friday! Said follow her lead at night!
