throwing up whilst coughing
LG got seen at a and e last night for a rash on her face which has formed since she’s had a cold, been told rash is nothing to worry about and her chest was clear. Her breathing is fine and her cough is not pleasant but not too horrendous HOWEVER she is throwing up after every feed due to a coughing fit. I’m more worried about her getting dehydrated than anything else? The consultant in an and e last night told me even though she is soaked after being sick she will be keeping some down and as long as she is passing some wee (even if not a lot) every few hours she is hydrated enough. Anyone dealt with this and have any tips?? She’s a fussy eater anyway so throwing up the limited feeds she does have is not ideal…

I’ve seen this before thank you!! She is probably throwing up this time it comes out like you wouldn’t believe! They saw it at a and e last night and said it is only due to coughing x
Ugh my little one did this too it’s so scary! When they’re sick from coughing it’s definitely more of a projectile proper sick than just reflux after eating. She threw up her whole feed from coughing/ crying and then didn’t eat for 7 hours so we went to urgent care and they said the same thing really. As long as she was eating roughly half of normal and had wet nappies not to worry. That being said they also said to bring her back if we were ever worried and we did end up making another gp appointment later in the week (were told the same thing, just bad viral cold) but I wanted to make sure she didn’t have a chest infection. If you’re worried I’d get a second opinion from gp. I got some baby cough syrup, loaded her up on calpol and nurofen, saline spray, snot sucker, baby vapo rub on bottoms of feet and chest, and calpol plugins at night. It’s just horrible! Hope you’re baby is feeling better soon xx
yep definitely projectile! I dream fed her small amounts like 2oz every couple of hours during the night to try and keep her hydrated and she seems to have had two decent nappies since midnight so I’m glad about that that. I tried the baby cough syrup and she wouldn’t take it at all but she doesn’t mind calpol so I might try some of that today, I’ve not heard of the Vicks on the bottom of her feet - did it help? Definitely, if she doesn’t have a wet nappy for 6 hours they told me to phone 111 so will do that or speak to GP xx

Thing but I think it did help! Didn’t hurt if anything. Dream feeding is smart - good idea! 2 wet nappies overnight is good. It’s so awful seeing them ill!
absolutely horrible! All i can do is rub her back whilst she’s having a coughing fit and give her a cuddle!
