Breast Milk to Formula

We initially started with combo feeding, but I was not able to get my production as high as I wanted it to be able to keep up with her feeding. We have switched over to formula feeding. I originally was not pumping as often as I should’ve been. I was just down to pumping each night. Should I be concerned after pumping only for three nights? I hear the infection and mastitis as possible but I’m not sure if I should be so pumping each night still if I want to lower my production. When I sleep without any protection, I only occasionally leak. Otherwise, you can’t even tell I was breast-feeding because my breasts are always big anyways.

If you want your supply up, you'll need to pump like every 2 to 3 hours.

yes, I am aware of this. I’m no longer wanting to pump. I am trying to figure out how to properly wean off of pumping.

I've heard cabbage leaves but I'm not sure.

My production has already decreased to my knowledge. I am just trying to figure out if I need to do anything else to make sure I don’t get mastitis.

To properly wean off pumping safely, try dropping one pumping session for a few days, then another for a few days and so on until you’re not pumping at all. This is the most effective way so you don’t get mastitis…. I’m a lactation consultant ◡̈

My baby boy is 15 days old and I feel like he eats so much! I’m only giving him breast milk, so I’m breastfeeding and pumping. It feels like my life revolves around my breasts. I’m glad that I’m producing enough for him. But it’s like a 24/7 type of job. He eats about every 2 hours. He sleeps in the morning for about 4 hours sometimes. I give him 2-3 ounce bottles and breastfeed until he falls asleep. I have large breasts so they’re heavy to hold, but breastfeeding is getting easier and faster for me to position myself and baby every day. I love being his Mom. My breasts have become household celebrities! 😅

I tried to wean off pumping and it didn’t work so I just went cold turkey 🙈 I wore a really tight sports bra and kept using cold compresses on them and took pain killers. Not going to lie it was a painful day or two but it did go, cabbage leaves didn’t do anything for me, cold compresses did. Hope this helps good luck xx
