I ate my usual two pieces of toast and some water. About 20 min before I had to start drinking my glucose drink. My results came back fine. I passed my glucose test. They did ask me if I ate before I came to ensure I wasn’t fasting. Something light is fine but be sure to eat.
I took my first glucose test on an empty stomach and was fine. It’s a super sugary drink, kind of like drinking flat soda depending on what flavor you get. Maybe pack a granola bar to eat in the car if you get sick drinking on an empty stomach.
I had mine last Tuesday! Drank the glucola at 1045. I had oatmeal around 845am and some coffee and water. Tried to avoid sugary foods the night before and morning of. Was totally fine by the time I went. Also thought it was going to be more liquid but it wasn’t even that much. It didn’t upset my stomach at all and I passed my test with flying colors. Was allowed to drink water before and after which helped I’m sure.
I’d advise skipping the toast as the carbs in the bread could make it harder to pass the test. I’d recommend eating something with protein, like just the eggs, for best odds on passing! You may still pass with carbs in your stomach, but your body will break down bread similar to sugar so it would basically increase the work your body will need to do to keep your blood sugar fairly level.
I took my first one on an empty stomach my appointment was at 9am so I didn’t wanna eat but I felt like shit 😂 I was cranky and hungry but for this baby it’s at 1045 so I’m not sure what ima do 😂
I wouldn’t recommend having toast. I had 3 eggs and an apple. I passed the test barely but I did
It's as if you drank soda in the morning on an empty stomach. Would that make you feel sick? It's really going to depend person to person. I had a small breakfast sandwich with sourdough, chicken, bacon and cheese. If you fast, you might be less likely to pass since having sugar first thing in the morning can spike your sugar. I would eat something at least. The drink made me feel a little buzzy/light headed but no stomach aches from it luckily. It's really not that bad!
Iva had the one hour and the three hour glucose tests. I fasted both times (other than water). I drank more water the first time and the tech told me the drink would make me nauseous and it didn’t. She said I drank too much water.
I have my test tomorrow too!!! My drs told me not to fast but I’m going to… a few months ago I ate a bagel and cream cheese the morning before a regular prenatal checkup and they found sugar in my urine from the bagel a few hours prior lol. Then I had to do extra blood work to check for that (it was all completely fine) so after that experience I’m not having any carbs or sugar tomorrow until after the test lol. If i dooo end up eating it’ll be eggs! I have my appointment at 10am so it’s not too bad lol
It's...SO much sugar! It's 50g of sugar, so if you've had that before, maybe you'll be fine on an empty stomach, but I almost fainted later, and I ate breakfast (eggs, avocado, almond flour tortilla and cheese). I passed easily, but didn't feel good!
I just had my test, 12 hour fasting, i threw up right after having the drink, they’ve booked me again for tomorrow. Im afraid if I’ll be able to complete it. Will be fasting for 8 hours now
It could. Some people find that it makes them sick, others say they barely noticed drinking it. I think it depends on your body
