Induction Vs C Section

I am booked in for an elective C section next week due to baby measuring in the 97% percentile, I also have pregnancy induced hypotension. At my blood pressure check up today the doctor questioned my C section and suggested induction. Has any one been in the same position? What did you choose? Happy for positive and negative stories.

I was induced with my first, only had the pessary in for about 6hours when babies heartbeat was really high and nothing they did could bring it down. Ended up with an emergency c-section. Just had a planned section in January. I really didn’t want to be induced again after last time, both my emergency and planned sections were absolutely fine. I hope whatever you choose everything goes well 💗

Every traumatic birth story I hear starts with an induction. Mine included. It was deeply traumatic. Get the section!!! Wish they’d given me one but waiting list was too long.

I was in the 98% percentile and was induced, I chose this over a C-section as I really didn’t want one, fear more than anything, and it was hard but the recovery was around a week/two rather than 6! I was told he was only going to be 8lb and I had a 10lb 2oz baby, shoulder dystocia but healthy! I don’t know how the hypotension would risk an induction so I’d go off what was recommended for safety of both you and baby☺️ hope all goes well!💙

I did a lot of reading/research on induction and c-section and chose a CS instead of induction when I got to 41 weeks. I struggled to find positive induction stories and when reading about the induction process and possible outcomes, it felt like a risk to go through induction to possibly end up with a CS anyway. Ultimately it’s what you feel is right for you, I knew that I would feel happier with a definitive plan and knowing what would happen if a natural birth became unlikely. I also felt the recovery was not as bad as I thought but I only have one baby, have a partner who was at home and family nearby. Whilst I didn’t enjoy the CS itself, I can’t fault the care and support we got from everyone at Jessops. Don’t let anyone pressure you into changing your decision - you’re well within your rights to have a CS and don’t need to justify that to anyone, including drs ☺️ Good luck with whatever you decide and drop me a message if you want to chat more x
