Birthdays

Birthdays soon, what’s everyone getting ? I’m struggling and legit do not have long to prepare 👀 bonus points for pics.

My little one is into Tellitubbies just now, he likes zipy things, looks, buckles etc! I did get him a sensory busy book he does like but only stays to the one page where the buckles are 👀🤣 any suggestions ?

Thanks xx

I have no clue. I feel so unprepared, and I have 2 weeks to go. 😮‍💨

you’ve longer than me. I’ve hit the single digit days 🥲

It was our little man's 2nd birthday yesterday. We bought him a Loog guitar. He loves playing with my husband's guitars so we wanted to get him his own "real" one. He had a Little Tykes car from my parents, which we now have to say goodnight to and pat (good car) before he'll be separated from it to go to bed 🤣 He had a toy ambulance and fire engine from my in-laws (both of which make noises and have flashing lights) - he's obsessed with emergency service vehicles so they've gone down a treat. And my brother and his fiancée bought some gorgeous books (he absolutely loves reading) and Thomas the Tank trains which match up with some of the books 😊

He loves all of his presents!

@Marion, oh no, hopefully you'll get it sorted 🤞🏻

Avatar

that looks good; he already has a remote car but. He literally have loads but it’s mostly silly we things so really not sure what to get

Avatar

they sound good presents, glad your wee boy likes them. Mines has started to pay with cars and drives them on the floor 🤣 so might need to look into soemthing like that

Avatar

you could always look at a wooden toy car garage 😊 That's what we got our lad for Christmas, along with an art easel. He had a push-along trike from my parents and a John Deere water/sand table from my in-laws.

My daughter got musical instruments, puzzles, books, stickle bricks, paint sticks, balance bike, 4in1 trike, linkamals (she now has 4, and she loves it when they all interact), magnetic letters and numbers with a little magnetic board, writing pad (like an etch'a'sketch). I also got her some learning toys, but they weren't necessarily birthday presents, and my mum bought her lots of animals about a month ago. My husband has ordered a swing and playhouse for the garden but they haven't arrived yet. I literally leave everything to the last minute because I'm so unorganised, and I wrapped her presents the night before her birthday haha x

We’ve got my daughter a wooden tea set, playdough and accessories, a dollhouse with furniture etc. and a wooden vanity set

Avatar

alot of people told me to get garden things but my garden isn’t in a position to be played in yet, lots of things to do! I can’t wait to buy things like this. I don’t mind spending expensive amount if it’s going to be an investment! Looks good x

Avatar

that’s fair enough. And hopefully it’ll be sorted for you soon to do things that you want xx

Avatar

wow that’s lots, spoiled girl 🥰 my boy has lots so I’m struggling. I do need to have a clear out but I can’t bring myself to get rid of toys incase he starts looking for them 🤣 he just doesn’t have anything particular that he’s like or interested in apart from phone or the Alexa 🤣 I leave everything last minute too! I see some busy boards at B&q quite expensive but they look good and he’s interested in all that the now so that’s a potential. I have quite a big family and friend group that will also buy for him so I’m in 2 minds to go all out or go small. We will also have a day out to like the soft play or something x

My daughter doesn't get presents from most of our family because we never see them and we're always forgotten about 😕, so I try my best to get stuff for her. I do go overboard haha, and we always buy things throughout the year. Her baby toys are in boxes, I think I've only sold a walker she hardly used and her jumperoo because we couldn't store it anywhere. I've still got 2 years worth of clothes to sort out as well lol. Anything to help my daughter learn is brilliant because she's quite a clever girl, and she loves music. We already have a slide for the garden but we need some descent weather to use it. She doesn't go to nursery, so I always think I need to buy her more. She has so much now, but nowhere to store everything x

Avatar

She took an interest in baking at nursery and was absolutely chuffed about the biscuits she brought home once. That’s why I bought her a kids baking kit and toddler cutting equipment so we can cook and bake at home together x

Avatar

I got my daughter a scooter, a play kitchen and a pretty dress for hers! I told friends and family to buy her clothes in the next size. She has sooo many toys and I refuse to buy more for them to not be used! 🤣

Avatar

We’ve got him a tonies box with a few tonies and some twirlywoo figurines

Avatar

We got our daughter an easel and chalk, a magnetic sorting game, play dough (isn't interested in those two just wants to draw) and a few bits of clothes. She got a sandpit (plus clothes, books and a puzzle) from one set of grandparents and gardening bits from the other set which she loves too

Baby boy is here!

Just had baby boy this morning at 5:49am 🥹🥰 I was in labor for 10 hours and pushed him out within 9 pushes. I cried tears of joy for like 20 minutes. All that pain was worth seeing his adorable little face and chubby cheeks 🫶🏾

Obstetrician led

I’m having shared care between midwife’s and obstetrician.

My previous pregnancy I had extra growth scans as baby was measuring big and I had pre-eclampsia during labour and a full dilated emergency C-section.

This time round I’m having obstetrician appointments, midwives appointments, cervical length scan every two weeks from 16-22/24, and extra growth scans again .

I’m just finding it all a lot to process can anyone let me know there experiences and if they went on to have a happy pregnancy despite it

Polly??

My 3 year old son is completely insistent that baby sisters name will be Polly. I think he just got attached ages ago after hearing it shouted in the park and now it does matter what name we suggest, even if he says he likes it, he still insists her name is Polly.

Now I dont hate it but its not really what I imagine for my daughter either?? I typically like full (yet girly) names with a cute nickname that can work in either a professional setting or out of work.

I think Polly just feels like a cute nickname to me? Also, I had an imaginary friend heavily inspired by Polly Pocket as a child so I dont think that helps 🤣

We just cant seem to agree on any names as a family so a bit stumped!

Mums that have kids🥰

When you gave birth and came back home with your newborn. When people wanted to come visit you straight away. How did you feel?

Everyone has different experiences I’m so curious x

Movements

How are people with no obvious ‘pattern’ monitoring baby movements?

My babies movements vary so much day to day, there is no pattern I can see whatsoever.

For example, over the weekend i felt him a few times during the day but nothing crazy, Monday & Tuesday he was wild in there and I felt movement on and off all day, today back to a few times.

When it varies this much I have no idea how I’m supposed to work out what is ‘normal’ and when to be worried!!!

Growth scan!

I recently had a growth scan and baby is 3 pounds and 13 oz I’m currently 29 weeks and 1 day. I’ve been told that they want to check for diabetes next week. Is there anything to worry about?
