Just got my lab results for my glucose test and turns out I have gestational diabetes! I haven’t had an appointment with my doctor about it yet but I’ve literally spent all day crying. So worried and scared ! Anyone else been through this?

Yes. It sucks and I’ve cried lots too. There are tons of Facebook groups for it that I Definitely suggest you join for support. They were a life saver for my last pregnancy and I know they will be for this pregnancy too.

Going through it now. Def scary and overwhelming. But like a lot of people have told me, it’s nothing we did! Just our hormones and placenta. Hopefully you’ll be able to manage with diet and exercise

Got my bad news today too… I was shocked honestly. I talked to OBGYN and she calmed me down by saying that it’s not an issue, more like inconvenience because it does NOT harm a baby, only I have to deal with it from now on. They will give you 1-2 weeks to keep it under control with diet and exercise (doc said to walk 15 min after every meal). Or they’ll put you on meds. I believe we can fix it with the diet. I am definitely the one to blame since I was eating high sugar fruits like watermelon and pineapple and drinking coconut water (a lot of sugar). So don’t be scared, just make some changes 😊❤️

I got diagnosed yesterday too and have been crying too I go to the specialist tmmro this sucks

I have it too. It’s so overwhelming, and having to test my blood four times a day makes very sad.

Hi I was diagnosed with GD at 16 weeks and I’m now 25 weeks. It can definitely be diet controlled once you have the right balance with carbs , protein and fiber. I eat fiber (veggies) first, protein then my carbs at all meals. I also would reccomend walking after each meal if you can. Fasting blood sugars are harder to control so I was put on insulin for that. Otherwise it gets better once you have the hang of how you should be eating. Hopefully you can see a doc soon and have all the info you need to make you feel better!❤️🩹

, that’s so interesting and good to know! What did your doctor say about you being diagnosed at 16w?
I am asking because I was diagnosed at 23w and he said it was too early, so I probably already had diabetes, which I am sure is not true, but in his words, the GD “develop” around 24 weeks, so I was one week off🙄

They made me do a A1C test to see if I could have been diabetic before the pregnancy, I’m not sure how that would’ve helped them to know🤷🏻♀️ my A1C came back normal according to my doctor so I’m really confused also but I do know after being diagnosed with this they check you after baby is here after a few months to see if you’re clear or still diabetic as you have the risk of developing type 2 diabetes later on in life. It’s a bit confusing but for now I do finger sticks 4 times a day, send my log of numbers every week to be checked and use insulin at bed for fasting blood sugars

, I had a diabetes test done before getting pregnant, and everything was normal. I also test my blood four times a day, but I am not using insulin.
