If you were prescribed antibiotics while in second trimester for a UTI which one were you given? I’m worried about taking it.

I took amoxicillin the first time and just finished nitrofurantin x

yeah I’m undecided about nitrofurantin which is what I’ve been prescribed and I’d rather have amoxicillian. I just don’t know if it will be good enough to get rid of it or if the other is better. But I know you shouldn’t take that one in the first and third trimester. Even though I’m in the second it’s still worrying.

Ask your OB if it's ok.

I was the same. I kept googling if it was safe to take. I ended up taking them as I was worried the UTI would be more of a danger for the baby. x

Nitrofurantin.
Then I ended up having strep b and a bad kidney infection so he kept me on a low dose for the rest of my pregnancy. Didn’t have any problems with it

I've a bad a few UTi’s throughout my pregnancy so a had couple of different ones
- Nitrofurantoin
- Cefalexin
- Amoxicillin

I had a few UTIs when pregnant. I remember sitting in a&e in agony with my back.
One way to help prevent them is going back to using condoms if you're in a heterosexual relationship that is

They would only prescribe things that were safe to begin with. They know you’re pregnant. I had a very resistant UTI while pregnant and had to take medication. It happens. Things could get a lot worse if the infection spreads and it’ll be very dangerous for you and baby.

If the person that prescribed it to you knows your pregnant then it will be fine. Ask a pharmacist if you want reassurance though. Google and people on this app won’t be able to provided you with the necessary info. Everyone is individual and what’s ok for some people might not be ok for you and vice versa.

Leaving the UTI untreated is more dangerous especially when pregnant than taking an antibiotic to clear it up, they wouldn’t give you it if it couldn’t be used while pregnant.
