Does your baby push their tounge out?

My 9m old does not babbled and rarely opens her mouth. I think she has tongue tension. Can you let me know if your 9m old pushes their tongue out?

My LO had tongue tie and couldnt stick his tongue out, just the little tip. Since getting it done (which I was very against at the beginning but SO glad we did) he can stick his tongue out fully. His babbling is much better too

@Emma Boot hey how long did it take for your baby to stick his toungue out after the division mines has been 3 days and not pushing it out yet

Avatar

took ages, like at least a month. He only rarely sticks it out now if he is copying us doing a silly face. But, he physically could. We had these tongue and cheek exercises to do which were amazing, we're you given things to do to help your LO learn about their tongue?

Avatar

@Emma Boot do you mind sharing some of the exercises please we were told as he's older and won't let me touch his mouth to use an o ball and that with things that he does put in his mouth n his fingers will help him stretch his tounge . That's put me accessed I thought he should be able to do it soon as but it's 3rd day yet x

great point about them being older! My LO loved his O ball so much. Could you put yogurt or something on the O ball to make them stay longer on it? Eating with spoons where they hold it? Lota of time looking at you sticking your tongue out and making sounds like 'la'. Giving them chance to look in a mirror

But I wouldn't be worried about how long it takes now. The division has been done, so it'll come when it comes now. It's a huge muscle for them to try and control

@Emma Boot that's such a good idea I've been avoiding yogurt but will try it as he needs to stretch his tough ue thankyou so much for the link those exercises look good x thankyou for the advice. Hope op got some help out of the comments

Speech

Hi everyone I am just at such a loss here. My son isn’t saying any clear words. He has been in speech therapy since he was 16 months and was of course evaluated for autism but they didn’t see any signs of autism in him so that can’t be it. He does use some gestures and understands quite a bit. His little brother is arriving in August and I’m really hoping some words will come before then. Any one else experience this with their child before 2 and then words came??

Baby hitting themselves

Hey everyone, I hate going to Google because it just makes you feel very uncomfortable afterwards. My 18 month old has recently in the past week started to hit himself on the head with his hands and sometime in our play room foam floor he will hit his head against the ground. I googled (i know your not supposed to) and it said that it can be a sign of frustration of not being able to communicate. When he would hit himself i would obviously react and grab his hands and say no sternly. I dont know if my reaction has made it worse because it has become more frequent. He sometimes will go to hit me and once has went to go bite me. Can someone give me some advice.

Colic / reflux baby

Hi everyone, my little girl will be 5 weeks old tomorrow. I’m a first time mum and my girls really struggling with what we think is colic. When she was 2 weeks old she was sick while we was out and it was bright yellow and she screamed and was in so much pain so I took her to A&E and they said it was gastro colic. She went weeks without any symptoms but this last week she has been in constant pain and discomfort. She’s drinking around 5oz of cow&gate every 3-4 hours but is in pain while drinking and pain hours after the bottle. Night time she seems to be settled especially after a bath but in the day she won’t be put down. We have plenty of wet of dirty nappies and thankfully she hasn’t lost any weight. We currently use the mam anti colic bottles but have purchased the tommee tippee advanced anti colic to try and are wondering if to try her on some new milk like the Kendamil comfort? We’ve raised this issue with the health visitor but unfortunately got the “I told you breast is best” comment and got next to no advice, when we’ve spoke to the GP their response is to contact health visitor so at this point we are just going round in circles. She’s a very sicky baby and will projectile vomit all her bottle up at least once a day so feeds are very strict in the sense of keeping her upright while drinking & for at least 30 minutes after a bottle and paced feeding/ burping after so many OZs.

Any advice would be massively appreciated.

Circumcision question

So my son got circumcised before leaving the hospital he’s 3 days old and they told me the day after leaving to take it off which is today and just add a lot of Vaseline to the area to help it and when we took him to his pediatrician he told us to just keep adding Vaseline on top of the gauze and it’ll fall off on its own but now I’m worried that it’ll get stuck to his skin if it sits to long. What do you feel I should do
