Baby traveling without ID

This might be a silly question but babies need some form of an ID traveling domestic yeah? The reason why I’m asking is my baby’s birth certificate has not arrived yet and was wondering if we could fly without it or are there other ways airlines would allow babies to fly? Did you experience this? PS my baby will be 5months when we fly.

No. I have never needed anything for my son and he’ll be 2 in a week. He also has my fiancé’s last name, still no issue. He gets his own boarding pass with his name.

If you travel internationally yes, but domestic travel you shouldn’t have a problem. You could call the airline to make sure just in case

Thanks guys!!

Sorry to ask but what state are you in

There isn’t a place to get birth certificates in person same day where you are?

@Princess yea usually once babies are born in the hospital she should’ve got their birth certificate right away.. my daughter was born out of the country so it took about a week or two to get her birth certificate

@Nathalia Tejeda the baby is 5 months so either she never got it or she lost it but that’s why I ask only because baby is 5 months and I know I live in FL and can get one the same day

@Princess I’m in Hawaii! I tried to look for same day but on the website it just shows I have to order online. But let me know!

I don’t see any same day but does it give you the temporary certificate option for birth certificate

I work at an airline! If they’re traveling as a lapinfant, a birth certificate or vaccine records are needed to show proof of age. If the baby has their own paid seat, nothing is needed to travel domestically ☺️

@Jessica not airline require it she need to contact the airline

What i gave was for when going through TSA, of course all airlines are diff but thats what they generally require. I would know as i work at one.

Its better to be safe having the documents than not having it and not being allowed to fly

@Jessica TSA doesn’t require anything, domestically, maybe internationally. my son has been lapchild at least 10x and never required anything.

Thanks everyone
