Baby standing in cot

For those whose babies are pulling themselves up to stand, what are you doing when they pull themselves up in the cot at bedtime. We have been putting him in the cot awake and staying with him until he drifts off, but now he is compelled to pull himself up which obviously then prevents the calm process of falling asleep. So far I've put him back down 3 times but he's straight back up again but not happy about it at all. Never-ending cycle.

We struggled with this for a couple of weeks and our LG just would not self settle. We had to pat and shush her for almost every sleep. Finally today she has started self settling again. A couple of tips that might help: - teach him how to get back down again in the day. We did this by putting a toy on the floor near baby and encouraging them to get it. - don’t keep lying him back down. It gets so frustrating because he will most likely just get back up again. - you might have to help him get to sleep (by rocking etc.) for a bit until he’s able to lie back down by himself and go to sleep.

@Vikkie thank you for the tips! Always good to hear from someone who's out the other end of these challenges.

This happened in the next to me crib, so I now moved her full time to her nursery crib and I lowered the cot level. Fortunately, she can't sit up by herself yet and can only reach to stand in a sitting position. If I find she is moving a lot by rolling and trying to pull herself up, I will pick her up and probably walk around the house a few times and put her back - some how this has always worked for both me and my husband. Just a quick cuddle and kiss and pat whilst walking and she is content. I usually put her to bed when she is tired, after a long fun bath (or short) and gently rub her head whilst reading a book until she sleeps. She watches the book and eventually yawns and sleeps still on her back as I try to not let her roll :)
