We started out on Aptamil anti reflux and lo became a little constipated, swapped the milk to Aptamil 1 and was constantly sick after feeding. We’ve now started to blend the milk, 2 scoops of each. Has anybody else mixed two formulas of the same brand?

No but maybe try a completely different brand to see if it works to save you the headache. We changed brands from hiip to kendamil and that worked for us. Why did the paediatrician recommendation reflux formula? Any allergy concerns?

Is the sick after feeding just spit up or is it projectile (like, launching across the room)?
I would recommend either using the Aptamil 1 & trying Carobel thickener to help with reflux, rather than using the reflux formula version. Only as the reflux one has the thickeners already added whereas if you add it yourself, you can adjust it to what baby needs without causing constipation. I used to use a half measure for what the box said….or just trying a whole different formula altogether to save the double payout for formula if mixing the two as they can only be open for 4 weeks before being discarded xx

I used both of them and they were rubbish so I put my little girl onto SMA anti reflux and she’s a lot better on it.
Carobel just made her very constipated and uncomfortable x

Thank you ladies, she’s not projectile just sick after each feed on the Aptamil 1 and I struggle to wind her. She then becomes very agitated and doesn’t want the rest of the bottle.
I’ll try switching up the brand and see how we get on, good point with the double formulas!
First time mum here, appreciate the help xx

Has she not got reflux maybe? That’s what my little girl has had since birth and being on anti reflux milk has seemed to have helped with it x

you’re welcome! Sounds like reflux tbh and my son was the same! For winding, I found I had to sway my son side to side as that’s the only way he’d burp. No amount of putting him on my shoulder or patting his back would do it but a gentle side to side sway and using pace feeding, he’d wind straight away! Definitely worth trying some other methods, it’s a lot of trial and error to find what works for your baby🤎
You could also try colic drops as they help with winding by breaking down the substances in the milk and getting the smaller bubbles of air to “join” the bigger bubbles as your LO will find the bigger bubbles easier to burp up/pass. You might find the spit up reduce as there won’t be as many air bubbles causing it to come up too xx

Update- the doctor confirmed she has reflux and prescribed Mezzooram. Not sure how I feel about giving this to her… is she too young for drugs? I’m supposed to give her 4mg a day and if In 10 days there is no progress she will prescribe a non dairy milk.

it’s no different than being prescribed infant gaviscon or omeprazole. My son had both prescribed from 4 weeks old but neither worked and it turned out to be because of CMPA and he needed prescription formula (ended up only finding the right milk third prescription in).
Pharmacy wouldn’t dispense if she was too young for it xx
