Nuby Rapid Cool

Transitioning to formula feeding after 6 months. Ladies on here suggested Nuby Rapid Cool or Tommy Tippee ones.
I'm just wondering if people sterilize after every use? I think it takes about 3 hours to 'reset'. Can you pop them in a bucket of cold water with Milton tablets?

Thank you!

You can sterilise the nuby in cold water (with Milton) but I think it advises against hot water / the dishwasher understandably as it messes with the temperature check. I've never used mine to make a full bottle, I use it on the go to cool hot boiled water from a flask. Using the hot shot method ☺️ (e.g. 2oz boiling water with formula in bottle and 6oz in nuby to cool to drinkable temp). I don't sterilise mine after every use for this reason I only hand-wash it as only boiling water is ever going into it but I would probably recommend it if you are putting formula in it as the sterilisation helps with any bacteria present from the formula.

thank youn!! That's good to know! You mentioned you use the Nuby for on the go. What do you do at home?? I was thinking of using Nuby at home as it looked like the easier method.

Do you keep new cooled boiled water everyday? And freshly boil kettle whenever you need?

We use the Tommee Tippee prep machine as its so convenient. But sometimes I'll use the nuby & boiling hot water from the flask or from the kettle. I'd usually use the flask for no more than 24 hours without replacing but usually it'd would be half a days bottles or a full day if we were going out etc. I don't cool the water at all before putting it in the nuby and then just put however much formula in the bottle and pour 2oz in ☺️ it took me ages to get my head around it lol but it's actually pretty straight forward. You can always get a thermometer to check the boiling water (same with the prep machine) to make sure the hot shot is hot enough ☺️ I'd definitely get a nuby over anything if you're unsure about the prep machine for at home as it saves the waiting around for a bottle or boiling water to cool and store etc.

Just thought it would be worth mentioning that Aldi are due to get the Nuby Rapid Cool on their special buys from Sunday if you live near one 🤗

@Devon how long would it take to cool down 6oz of water in the cooler?

Avatar

in the nuby rapid cool it takes about 30 seconds-1 min if that ☺️ I'll do the 6oz in the nuby then pour in my hot shot of 2oz into the bottle, shake and then check the nuby and it's always done by that point ☺️

@Devon that's great thank you. Sorry final question, does it take a while for the nuby to cool down before using it again?I've read it takes 3 hrs before next use

Avatar

no need to apologise ☺️ it depends if you're using it to make the actual bottle rather than water if that makes sense. But equally my LO has bottles 3-4 hours so I've not encountered a problem

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🥰

Baby losing weight

Hi all, it's been a long time since I had a baby (my son is 15!). My daughter is 10 days old and was 9lb born, she has since lost weight at every appointment and is at a 12% loss. I am breast feeding every two hours for over an hour and topping her up every feed. I pump and can get 60ml in 10 minutes so I know my supply is okay. Anyone had this before? Can give me some tips? I currently feel like I'm letting my baby down.
