Things to do on mat leave

Hi guys! First time Mumma here, I’m just wondering what you guys did to keep yourself entertained before baby came?

I finish work this Friday (26th April,2024) as I have a month of annual leave before my maternity starts.

I’ve got everything I need for baby for when she arrives so I don’t need to get any of that, I’m doing classes already too that I can get into and going in walks when I feel able too. I just don’t know what to do when I finish work plus money is tight because I had a few hospital trips that were unexpected this month.

Can anyone suggest anything I could do? TIA 🫶🏻

Sleep! Put your feet up and relax. Enjoy the “me” time, read a good book, watch some films, take a few day nights/days with your husband/partner.
I may sound boring but honestly you will appreciate the rest once LO gets here x

- Batch cook some freezable meals for when your baby arrives
- Get plenty of rest
- Watch a good TV series and movies you won't have time to watch
- Read a book
- Deep clean the house
- Get into a labour prep stretching routine
- Go on nice walks when you can
- Go on some relaxing dates with your other half
- See some friends / family if you have the energy

Enjoy the guilt-free time to yourself :)

Along with the usual finish the nursery, deep clean the house, batch cooking, resting, relaxing etc. I seem to have a never ending to do list that I never get to because I have a 2 year old and full time job 😅 so as much of that as possible as I imagine I’ll get nothing done with two! 🤣

I’ve just downloaded loads of games for my switch and I’ve got a pile of books so get through! I also plan on deep cleaning/cooking meals for the freezer, spending the last few weeks giving my dogs all the love🥰

Another vote for reading…I’ve got a 19 month old and I don’t feel like I’ll ever have the time to read again. On my first mat leave I would go to my fave coffee shop with a book for hours (enjoy hot coffees while you can 😅) Go swimming, get a pedicure/foot massage/reflexology if you have spare cash, this may sound silly but just stroll around the shops even if you don’t buy anything, just do whatever you enjoy that’s completely for you. Learn to do your hair a new way/put on a full face of make up 😂 take up a new hobby - I learned to knit which kept me busy for ages and I made a load of cute blankets for baby in the winter - also very handy for gifts when your friends have babies! Just enjoy as much time for yourself as you can xx
