My newborn has very dry and flaky skin all across her body but primarily her belly, feet and hands.
1. Is this normal?
2. Will bathing her make it better or dry it out more?
3. Is she too young for me to use moisturiser/oil products to relieve the dryness. Any recommendations (UK based)?

My LO had the same when he was brand new. It is normal.
Our midwives told us not to use any products (lotion, body wash etc) until he was 4 weeks old, not sure why. We did use colostrum in the bath instead as I had collected heaps before his arrival.
The dry flakiness went away within a couple weeks and honestly didn't seem to bother him, I wouldn't worry unless it's looking red/sore or irritated.

What Mary-Kate said. Definitely normal. Their skin is figuring out how to be in a non-aquatic environment, so it needs time to regulate. Lotion and whatnot doesn't really give their skin time to learn how to regulate the oil
Both of mine have had it and it's gone away by about a month

They’re like reptiles shedding their skin from being in the uterus.

this is very normal, advice in the UK is to leave it, even when you bath them just use water under 1 month, my son is 6 wk and still has some on his face but i’m still leaving it alone

Yes as everyone said, I would leave it, as my LO's skin peeled all over even his scalp. I only started giving proper soap baths after 6 weeks onwards. Otherwise just water baths every 3 days and then no lotions either.

As above, totally normal. I don’t know why no one tells us these things before we have a baby! I had forgotten that my baby was so peely. Just leave it be and it’ll clear up before you know it ☺️

Yes it’s normal babe x
My son had the same issue. I was told by the midwives to use coconut oil or olive oil and it went away. I also used it in his hair when I realised his scalp was starting to get dry. I used coconut oil

It’s totally normal, her skin is adapting to being in the outside world. Just make sure you moisturize her with a good and free scent - to avoid allergies - moisturizer. Will get better soon.

Epaderm, it’s from boots and is amazing!!! I use it too now and it’s cheap. Doesn’t smell the best 😂
Perfectly normal, bathing will dry it out more. Maybe do cloth washes until it’s a little better x
