Vaping while breastfeeding
Is vaping ok while you breastfeed? I read that it obviously wasn't great because of the nicotine and to try and wait over an hour after you smoke to breastfeed but my little man is always wanting to breastfeed it's hard to time when I can vape. He's about 6 weeks old. I feel guilty I'm vaping still but it's hard to quit. (Please don't bash me for it) I try and pump and dump to keep my milk supply but my supply has already been low that I've been having to supplement with formula but I'd rather breastfeed him more than give him formula and I don't want to decrease my supply anymore than it is. Any insight would be nice. I'm planning on speaking to his pediatrician about it but I just wanted to post in here as well. Thanks.

The benefits of breastfeeding outweigh the risks associated with nicotine in your milk. Did you vape while you were pregnant?.
I vape and I’m 33 weeks and I will be vaping while I breastfeed. I did last time too and that’s what they told me, the benefits of breastfeeding outweigh the small amount they get. Same thing with one medication that I’m on.
If you’re unsure about it then just talk to your pediatrician about it. They’re normally pretty understanding and just happy to hear you’re breastfeeding. So don’t let the vaping stop you from that. If I was you I would just try to vape as little as you can but hit it a few times directly after breast feeding so that you’re past the 30 minute mark (peak) when it’s time to feed again.
Your doc could also give you nicotine replacement products like a patch or lozenges if you wanna try to quit.
Thank you. That makes me feel a little better. I did vape while I was pregnant unfortunately. I did significantly vape less but now I'm vaping a lot more. I too was also on medication during pregnancy that was like that (Suboxone). I'm in recovery and was told I shouldn't stop taking it while pregnant because it could do more harm than good. I also feel guilty saying this but I'm not ready to quit vaping yet. 😕
I’m also on suboxone that’s the medication I was referring to! I’ve been in recovery for almost 4 years now and I am still on it so this will be my second baby that I took it with. My first had absolutely no signs that he was exposed to it and had no adverse effects when I stopped breastfeeding either.
I actually still smoked cigarettes last time I was pregnant but I started vaping right when he was born.
But yea they’re definitely not gonna tell you to not breastfeed for the vaping or the sub.

I vaped during pregnancy and still now. My daughter is about to be 4 months and is super healthy! I think the hardest thing is gonna be when she stops breastfeeding.
do you wait any significant amount of time after you vape to breastfeed or do you just breastfeed whenever?!
No i do not. Sorry it's been a long time since I've been on. She's now 9 months and nothing has changed. She's as fit as a fiddle
