Two missed miscarriages

I am going through second missed miscarriage in less than one year. Totally blank what I could have done to prevent this. Not sure where to start looking for advise really! This will be my second D&C. Is there anyone who can advise what test should I do or any other helpful resource. do you think if I should try again or wait for sometime now. Or shall I start looking for IVF option. p.s. - I lost my mum to ovarian cancer when I was a kid and can’t take help from friends as I am happy for them and don’t want them to feel bad for me. Thank you

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. I had two missed miscarriages within a year (though they both were through IVF). I also had a D&C with both. After two miscarriages you’re considered as having recurrent pregnancy loss, so you could now have more investigations done. I would request an RPL panel done on you and Karyotype testing for both you and your husband. If you haven’t had one already an HSG test or saline sonogram could be useful. It may help to go to a reproductive endocrinologist for all of this as they usually do all of that in house. Again I’m so sorry for your losses and I hope that you get some answers 🤍

I'm sorry for your loss. I also had 2 miscarriages in the last year. How were the pregnancies, did you see the embryo or just the sac? Our first was also a MMC and then we had a chemical, given the nature of these I would reckon it's likely chromosomal abnormalities and IVF may not necessarily help our situation. We have now booked in to see a ob-gyn next month and will go from there. I read if one have had miscarriages, IVF may not necessarily be the right solution as you can get pregnant. But the doctor can probably best advise. We contemplated doing the testing ourselves too but also 60% of the time people who did that found no results do it may be best to consult the doctor and see what they say. Hope this helps. Wishing you all the best ❤️

@Gabriella thanks so much for sharing your experience. I am sorry to hear about you losses. I have requested for genetic testing of the tissue followed by few bloods tests like blood clot disorder etc. Taking one step at a time now. Fingers crossed 🤞

@Sabrina thanks for replying and I am sorry to hear that you went through the same experience. It’s not easy I know. In my first I never got to see the heartbeat, but in the second one I saw the heartbeat at 7 weeks but 2 weeks later there was no heartbeat. I thought IVF is for people like us where they match the exact chromosomes etc. I agree that chromosomonal factor might be the case. I wish you the best ❤️ let us know how it goes only if you are comfortable.x

Hey! I had 2 chemical pregnancies back-to-back end of last year, I am now 17 weeks pregnant with a baby boy who’s growing very fast. I am not out of the woods (I know!), but so far everything’s been going fine, baby boy is also active!

Thanks! Yeah to be honest I'm not sure either, I will see what the doctor advised with all factors considered especially the age factor. I think ivf with genetic testing can screen for the chromosomal abnormalities, but say if we don't have many eggs to retrieve then it would be the same probability of trying naturally. Although yes if we do try naturally it might also take time. What are your thoughts and course of the next action? Happy also if you want to chat separately further, feel free to PM me. We can exchange thoughts and ideas on this x

@Filipa that's great you are now having a healthy pregnancy! I was curious to know if you had done anything different following the 2 chemical pregnancies?
