Has anyone traveled from the US to Africa? More specifically New England to East Africa.

We are contemplating a trip to see in laws in Tanzania this fall- our daughter will be 18 months. The journey is typically 24-30 hours with 1 or 2 transfers. Any thoughts/tips? - lap infant or car seat on plane? - stop halfway for an overnight break or power through? - sleep strategies- bring a travel crib? Bed share? - honest strategy for ground transportation in places where car seats aren’t always used - malaria concerns?
