OHSS warning (trigger warning)

Was debating whether to post this but I wanted to make everyone aware so you can be on the lookout I’m currently in hospital for OHSS after my first IVF round. Am in extreme discomfort and pain. Have been here 4 days and no idea when I will improve/ get out. Backstory: Stims and trigger were absolutely fine, felt good, only a tiny bit of bloating Egg collection went well, got 10 eggs On egg collection day, started progesterone 5 days later, went back for transfer. Still feeling great About 5 days post transfer, started feeling tired and bloating more 7 days post transfer, feeling very weak, dizzy, out of breath easily and bloating looked like I was several months pregnant. Took pregnancy test which was positive 8 days post transfer, rang clinic to tell them about early positive and symptoms, they suggested it was probably pregnancy symptoms and to call back if it got worse I spent the next few days off sick, diarrhoea, vomitting with shortness of breath and chest pains. Half a mashed banana and a couple of grapes a day was all I could manage without feeling like I was going to burst 11 days post transfer was OTD. I rang clinic to give them positive result and spoke to a different nurse about my symptoms. She said it sounded like OHSS and to go to A&E. Did as we were advised and was admitted straight away. Scans show was I thought was bloating was fluid leaking into my pelvis and abdomen. If you have ANY of the above whilst you’re stimming or in the weeks after, see a doctor immediately. You are even more at risk if you get a positive test as the HCG produced by the baby will elevate your hormone levels even more Drink plenty of fluids, and monitor your weight daily. If you have rapid weight gain in a short amount of days it could be an indication you’re carrying extra fluid Stay safe and look after yourselves x

Hope you are okay, sounds scary!

@Hannah Thank you, I wasn’t showing any improvement by myself so I had a drain put in a few hours ago and already feel so much better. Plan is to release fluid gradually over the next couple of days but I can at least breath properly now x

Wishing you a steady recovery @Marilyn ❤️‍🩹 💐

Hope you heal quickly ❤️

Hope you get better soon. Thanks for sharing! 🫂
