1st Prontogest (PIO) injection

Hi all! We just did my first progesterone in oil injection this evening and I’m worried because it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting! That sounds silly but now I can’t be sure we did it right. My partner is adamant it felt like the resistance of going into muscle, but I’m scared it just went into my fat bits 😳 can anyone confirm it’s not as bad as everyone says? Or maybe it’s easy to start and gets more painful over time??

I’m on day 4 of my shots and I feel the same. I put lidocaine cream on 1 hour before the shot to numb it. And I can’t even feel the shot at all. Are you putting numbing cream on at all?

Thanks for the reply @Makayla No I didn’t numb the area, all I did was warm the vial in my cleavage for 15mins before so it was closer to body temp. Felt the needle break the skin but no sensation of the oil going in which I was expecting… Guess I’ll just have to trust him when he says he did it right!

As long as he’s putting it straight in, and it’s in the upper outer quadrant, I think you’re fine! I was surprised that it didn’t hurt at all since I’ve heard terrible stories!!

I’m 8 days in and it’s been a relatively painless journey so far. A couple shots have pinched and caused bleeding but otherwise they don’t hurt going in or after. Skin is perhaps slightly tender to the touch but nothing too bad!
