When can toddlers wear necklaces?

My MIL gave my son two beautiful necklaces. They belonged to my SO when he was little. I was just wondering when it would be safe to give to my son to wear.

He's 18 months.

It’s advised not to put them on toddlers younger than 4. Similar to other suffocation risks, the chance of suffocation decreases after 4 y.o

I read in the American academy of pediatric that over a year you can.. just be mindful of small bits or beads of any. I’m Dominican, so I see babies at 6 months old with gold necklaces lol

I let my kids wear them around 18 months, but we take them off for every nap and bedtime

My daughter got a gold necklace for her 2nd birthday but she would the medallion charm in her mouth so i didn’t let her wear it. I’d say avoid it until he no longer puts things in his mouth. She’s 4 now and wears it regularly but i still remove it every night to avoid it getting caught on something as she moves around a lot at night.

My son got his first necklace at 2 I just made sure to tech him not to pull on it or anything and it gets taken off at night

@Pamela Noelle us dominicans love putting jewelry on our babies 😂 i still have my engraved name plate from my first bracelet when i was born 🥲

my kids have jewelry like necklaces and my daughter has a couple bracelets. i only let them wear them when we’re going out and i take the necklaces off in the car seats bc i am such a paranoid mom lol

@luu🤎 from the WOMB they be plotting on their kids and the first necklace or bracelet… always a name plate too 😂😂😂
